We won't necessarily need to send Caldy to MEM. Although, if we don't, and want to sign a FA, we'll probably have to amnesty him.

First, someone needs to add that to the smilies list, heh.

Second, why would we amnesty a useful player who would be in any teams rotation who has 1 year left on his deal which we would possibly use at the deadline, vs a guy who has 2 years left, is even more injury prone than Jose, and isnt as useful in Kleiza? Am I missing something?

i'm assuming that is because kleiza only clears $4.5 mil in cap room, whereas jose clears $10 mil. if we want a cheap fa, we might as well keep lk.

Definitely another option, depending on how much space we need.

Amir is a winning player. I'd much rather amnesty Kleiza over him.

Yup. Amir is the kind of player that championship teams have coming off the bench as energy bigs. Hard to give up a warrior like Amir for nothing.

Was lurking over on one of the Grizzlies board and one guy posted this trade:

With the 8th pick included.

The other dudes over there agreed that that would be an ideal trade for them, and I actually like that deal for us as well. Maybe if we could somehow swipe that 25th pick too.

Does getting (what would be the best) back-up PG in Jose, kleiza, and davis make them better than they are? The thing with Gay, is that he's one of those guys like Joe Johnson, and Kobe, and Durant, who's really really good in late game, late clock scenarios, and he's the only guy on that team that has that. Give him the ball and let him go to work, at 6'9" he's shooting over everyone.
I like this trade for us, but not for them, unless there's something about Mayo we don't know. He's a shooting guard in a point guard's body. Gay, DeRozan and Nash in the open court would be deadly, not to mention exposing the shit out of chumps on the pick and roll for posterizations. sign me up for this trade.

Agreed.

Also, for everyone who likes ED and wants to keep him and Bargs, there are some issues. I think ED needs all the time in the world and should get it, however, Amir can play both PF and C. Amir also doesn't need to adjust or develop much like ED needs. Amir will do as he's told - starting at C, coming off the bench, etc. As long as Bargs is on this team Amir will be here as well. The only reason I personally think ED is still here is in case Bargs is traded, and given how that it's quite unlikely that he'll be dealt, ED will unfortunately be the odd man out.

We can make the deal without Calderon even. Kleiza, Ed, #8 for Gay and #25 works. Memphis is taking raw capspace over Calderon's deal.

Regardless, I would like to see at least one of the horrible trio (Jose, DD, Bargs) to be dealt, preferably two.
