Bargs/Amir/JJ
Val/Gray/Amir
I can see Dragic not Nash. I love him... but we can't take a chance on Nash's back or it's all over before it starts too easily. But isn't dragic a RFA?

But Ed, Ocho and 2 isn't going to do it. Gay was 8th pick and a good one so you kind think it takes our 8th plus.

PS Nash not chasing a ring is for the Suns not us. He stays in Phoenix for that but does not come here.

A couple of Memphis fans on another board said they would do 8th + Jose + Kleiza for Gay (not sure about 25th pick)

And that is why they are fans, and not GMs!

Memphis wants to avoid the luxury tax, in order to do that they have to trade one of their big contracts hence why they are even shopping Gay. They don't hold much leverage here.

I still think they can get MUCH better from other teams IMO. Other teams have big contracts who are better players than Caldy+Amir.

The question is do those other teams have enough cap space to acquire Gay without giving back equal salary?

We are in a unique position where we can take on a lot of salary without giving any back. Memphis is trying to get rid of salary not trade Rudy for equal salary coming back.

See your point but Calderon's an expiring. So it would free them up space for 2013.

I doubt Calderon would be involved in the deal, they already have Conley so they don't need Jose.

Thats why I suggested 8th pick, Amir Johnson & Gary Forbes.

They could find a cheap replacement for Rudy with the 8th pick, Speights is a free agent so Amir could be his replacement & Forbes is basically just a throw in, maybe a cheap scoring option for them if they don't bring back Mayo.

Either way we are in good position to make a deal for him over most teams because of our cap flexibility, it just all depends what the Grizzles are asking.

Forbes

They need a reliable back up PG and they get that with Calderon for a year

Calderon is there stricly for his contract. He can be used as trade bait during the season or he can come off the books next off-season, instead of having Gay's contract going on for years. That's the point. And I'm just saying Memphis could get waaayy better than a lottery pick, Amir and Forbes for a border-line/future all-star. Even to just let go of Gay's contract. They can get way better assets else-where. We are not the only ones with cap flexibility.

Caldy would be better as our backup and package bayless instead.

He's one of two players on our team that make higher money and Bargnani is going nowhere. If we're going to get a player like Gay or Iguodala we'll have to send them Caldy which i thankfully do. Time to move on people.
