Derozan - Bargnani - JV - these guys are key to a team that needs to match up with OKC for the next decade.

Nash gets them to the playoffs next year which is crucial - they need to start getting the valuable experienced earned in the playoffs to start catching up to OKC.

They need a pg off the bench who will go at Westbrook on both ends (Maybe Bayless?)

They need to trade Jose (if they can sign Nash), and one of Davis/Amir for an upgrade at the 1 over Bayless or an upgrade at the 3. A young player who is close to par with Durant or Westbrook and has the confidence to go at them.

The advantage the Raps could have on OKC offensively is the Bargnani/JV/Davis combo against Perkins/Ibaka/Collison. Derozan has the right kind of character, and he has the ability to go at Westbroko/Durant/Harden and battle them, while hopefully JV/Bargs can get the best of the OKC frontcourt.

I don't think its even close. The guys you're identifying can't run with the OKC guys.

Personally I don't see it as overvaluing, as we are talking about a leader of a team compared to one inconsistent three point shooter without defence, and another player with no range.

If anyone could pull off such a deal he'd serve his team well.

Well, pretending for a second that all of Derozan's critics don't know what the fuck they're talking about, and assuming he's a good young shooting guard;

Eventually you have to run with the young guys you have and hope they can compete with OKC. When they've matched up I don't think their is such a large gap between the two that it can't be made closer with time & playoff experience.

You look at a team like the Kings - they always play OKC tight - the teams of the same generation aren't miles and miles behind OKC.

The other option is tanking and hoping you get Lebron Durant Blake Howard...it's more fun trying with the players you already have in my opinion.

That is what B.C. is doing anyways - he's sticking with Derozan, Bargs, and JV.

30 teams in the league would jump at Derozan the minute B.C. pondered shopping him.

I agree that the Raptors are looking to move the pick. They've been trying to package it with another young player like Ed Davis and a vet (Bargnani or Calderon). I think they want a big time player on the wing so that they can lure Steve Nash this summer. The guy most people in the league believe they are after via trade is Rudy Gay. If they stay at 8, they want a player who can get to the basket. Thus ... Waiters at 8.
Thinking he's blowing smoke out his ass. Bargnani is not included period...so it's Calderon. Nash is never coming here (doesn't want to and wants to win)and we are never committing a fortune to him (how old?). So unless there's another FA point guard, or another trade for a PG, this is impossible bacuase we need our pick... maybe that's why it hasn't happened...

Right now the OKC guys are gods who any day now are going to elevate into the sky and become constellations.

In reality they're already reaching the flatter part of the incline in their improvement bell curve.

First off Nash has said he isn't going to chase a ring, secondly why again do we NEED this pick? And thirdly this hasn't happened yet because we're barely into June. Not saying that it's going to happen, but just saying.

What about:

Toronto - Gay,#25 (Teague?)

Memphis- #8, Davis, Jose, 2nd

Then you sign Nash or Dragic

Nash/Teague
DD/MLE/Forbes
Gay/JJ/Kleiza
Bargs/Amir/JJ
Val/Gray/Amir

Mehh, give Nash 3yrs/30Mil and have them both come off the books in 3yrs. If we don't want to keep him we have 28Mil come off the books. We'd have an exciting 3yrs imo. You rather sign Ilyasova or Pietrus to 3-4yr contracts? That'll get us bearting OKC..lol

Nash
Gay
JV
Bargs
DD

is a nice lineup for the next few years... Get these guys some Playoff experience, and a winning culture and who knows what other trades/signings can be pulled off in the next couple years...

I disagree I think BC only needs to add one of those players + the 8th pick...

What about DeRozan, Amir & our 2 second rounders?

I think the best case scenario is we get gay and keep Davis and Derozan.

Those guys are young and still have a ton of room to get better.

Calderon + #8 + Amir + Lottery protected 1st for Gay + #25

Nash/Bayless/Uzoh
Derozan/Rookie (Doron Lamb anyone?)
Gay/Johnson/Kleiza
Bargnani/Davis
Valanciunas/Gray

Anyone hear about this Evan Fournier guy out of France?

"Strengths: Has a really solid, strong body that helps him attacking the rim; he is not so explosive, but his first step allows him to beat opponents off the dribble ... Very crafty offensively. He is a natural talent, and can score in many ways: shooting from three, attacking the basket and spotting up ... Very adept at driving and dishing ... Also has a nice left hand, and can grab rebounds, both in offense and defense ... The trademark to his game is his ability to score clutch baskets. He seems to live for crunch time ... Sees the floor exceptionally well for a 19 year old ... He also is a very difficult defensive assignment because he is always in motion, working hard to get open looks ... Defensively, he has nice position and good foot work, plays smart, not overly aggressive ... Tremendous attitude, work ethic. Willing to put the work in to maximize his abilities ..."

i think the only way we should be dealing for gay is when the grizz have their backs up against the wall with mayo. we need the leverage otherwise we're just going to be dumping off three solid assets (plus cap flexibility) for him. there's only so many teams that would be able to take gay's contract on, and i'm not necessarily sure that everyone of those teams would be compliant.

We get the new "room MLE" - worth half of the usual MLE - to be used after using up all your cap space.
