If we trade Calderon we need a PG that is better than bayless.

Who is available?

Would an AMir/Caldy for Rondo work? lol
They can do far better than that for Rondo.

NBA @ 2: Boris Diaw as Trade Pawn? | HOOPSWORLD | Basketball News & NBA Rumors

Purely speculation, but would have the Lakers acquire Diaw through the TPE, then trade Diaw + 1st round pick for Calderon.

Toronto would take 10.6 millions off the books next year (Diaw is expiring) and get a draft pick in the early to mid 20's.

So, we'd be trading a starting Lakers PG for cap relief and mid-20s draft pick? Seriously?

Boris, who came into the league as a guard but has since grown into a front-court player (listed at a very conservative 235 pounds),

Just out of curiosity - how are you planning to use the 20 mil (if that)? Specifically, who's starting at the point next season?

Not Calderon

Obviously i'm not a GM, but if BC does this he surely has a better idea of who will be.

20Mil can upgrade a couple positions in the starting rotation.

Wonder where they got that idea from?

The expiring contract players large enough to trade for Jose (you can't combine players you recently traded for) and small enough to fit into their trade exception are:

Carl Landry
Kirk Hinrich
Kris Humphries
Andre Miller
Jameer Nelson (with a PO for next year)
Maurice Williams (with a PO for next year)

So, potentially, the Lakers could acquire any of those players with their TPE and flip them for Jose. Now, this seems unlikely - there aren't too many expiring contracts that fit into the required salary range (7.45M to 8.9M). Of course, it doesn't have to be an expiring, but otherwise it would have to be a younger player with some upside the Raps might want to keep, and how would the Lakers get that player and why would they trade him away?
I didn't include Diaw at the time, as I overlooked his contract in the list - he fits into the TPE + $100,000 limit (at 9 million). Plus, it's Charlotte. But still, a good idea, if I do say so myself.

I personally would want both the Lakers' and Mavericks' picks.

I would hope the raps would try to get both Dallas' and the Lakers' first rounders this year.

Also, how about Barbosa for Carroll and Augustin? Charlotte can buy Barbosa out or try to expand the trade by including another team. It's almost certain Carroll doesn't opt out of the $ 3.5 million he'll make next season (ETO). Bobcats save $ and already have their PG of the future in Kemba. So, that'd leave the raps with:

Augustin/Bayless
DD/Forbes/Butler/Carroll
JJ/LKZ/Diaw
Bargs/ED
Gray/Amir/Magloire/Alabi

Well the Lakers have been known for trading away late first round draft picks (don't like the guaranteed salary). What about TO sends their 2nd round pick for both the the Lakers first round picks (in addition to the Calderon for Diaw deal).

just a piece of this article :

I also been told by league sources that the Ridnour trade is a backup plan for the Blazers, who are still hard after another point guard. That could be Nash, Rajon Rondo or Jose Calderon.
Trade rumors swirling around Crawford, Felton

calderon in portland + a futur pick (not this year) or + ed for felton + batum, i will be all for it.
get it done BC please !!!

guy I know in LA said this was a scenario...

DIAW gets the buyout and LA picks him up using whatever they got there..a TPE or something, La then Flips Diaw Immediately along with their first round pick for Calderon. Toronto gets out of calderons salary, LA gets a PG that can work well with Kobe and Pau.

i'd be holding out for both dallas' pick and the lakers. calderon's contract is expiring next season and he's been playing his finest ball as a raptor this season, we don't need to sell him short. anyone know any late round euros would could stash?
