Really? The Raps have 10 players under contract. They need at minimum 3 more players added over the summer, and have room for up to 2 more beyond that. Do you really want another season with 5 new faces on the team?

Weems is certainly worth 2 mil per year, and probably worth close to 3, for 3 or 4 years. If his salary creeps above that, he'll be overpaid. But in the meantime, he is a decent bench player who brings some defense and energy.

This. ^^^

Sonny has all the tools to be a very solid defender. We've seen it.

If Casey can tap into that again he'll be a very useful player to have off the bench.

I think he'd be getting underpaid. I don't see him agreeing to that, especially when he said there were multiple teams interested in him and "guaranteed" he'll be in the NBA next season (Fan590 interview I believe).

They can still keep Wright... they just aren't going to offer a 4M qualifier even if it's only for one year.

Money weems will most likely have been offered this qualifying deal:

2010/2010 Salary-$854,389

Qualifying offer for 2011/2012-$1,091,100

Well that was a waste. Unless we use his million as a top up for a trade. Or is the plan to drag ass for another year.

Was it not Sonny who had a full gag reel of him not figuring out how to go over the pick, and getting J'ed to death.

i hope sonny matures and learns that the team game is more important than the self gain. i don't mind having him for 1 season and seeing how he plays with our next HC but if he constantly sticks to chucking and not making the right decisions i.e. pass when it is open over the 3, the i'd rather just see him go.
i was never a sonny weems fan.

We now have 11 players (if weems accepts) and BC has admitted he's going after a FA or two so it doesn't surprise me that they wouldn't offer then QO's. And i also think a trade will occur as well. Probably looking at 3 new players.

I was very disappointed with his performance last year.

I saw some character issues with Sonny last year, I was hoping we wouldnt' see him stick around.

Let's just hope we see more Sonny from 09-10 rather then 10-11. This coach won't likely put up with Sonny Jordan.

What's wrong with Weems?! Oh, the commentators had something to say about his shots, every time he took a shot. Just like with Jamario before, they were always on cue criticizing his selection, even if it meant interrupting their singing. if it's DeMar it's for developing purposes, if it's Weems it's for messing up Bargnani's touch count.
Is Weems one of our best if not the best defenders?
Is defence kind of our focus?
Is Weems young enough to progress?
So, why is he not given a chance to expand his O? Why is he not allowed to play through what one two mistakes a game.
I hope Casey will level out playing field. And the nimwitted commentators will start praising Weems' amazing progress this season.
