I have no problem with Carlos Delfino as our "starting" 2 guard, provided there will be other players in there who will be better (which there are).

You're not going to have all stars at every position, but a lineup of Calderon, Delfino, Marion, Bosh, Bargnani is actually pretty good IMO.

a player from the draft, and a trade or two in our favor will still be needed to round out the team.

I don't agree..... that lineup still has nobody who can create from the wing off the dribble. That is what we have been needing and Delfino doesn't bring it.

we'll just have to see who Colangelo can get from a trade or the draft, or if Marion will be back or not. It's still too early to really know what our team will look like. I just think that Delfino isn't a bad guy to have in there, provided he won't be asked to play outside his comfort zone.

Exactly. That is exactly what we lacked so much last season. Delfino is a solid player off the bench, but that's it.

Exclamation look out if this guy comes here!unless he already is!?

Delfino? The Man With No Game
We like Evans, he doesn't have much of a game, but he's got a focus which the Raps need. However, Delfino? No way, he has no game, is a defensive liability. Joe Dumars is getting ready to draft his first pick from Toronto over that trade. BC seems intent on making that mistake worse by bringing this guy back. Maybe there is something in the trade winds regarding this. I dunno. However, the Raps need guards and hopefully that will come in the draft. Delfino? He's a huge step backward. Hopefully he'll turn down the offer and save all of us Rap fans some aggravation.

he always has negative, snarky comments to say about bryan colangelo's and the Raptors moves. this one isn't as bad but most are way worse than this. so, be prepared for harsh raptor negative comments and him constantly putting trona instead of tornto or tdot or raps, etc. he claims to be a raps fan. But, he sadly isn't and his partner in crime is thedster, they agree on everything each other says and it's always insulting the raps.

He's always commenting on Raptors articles at thestar.com

BEWARE!!

Don't get me wrong... I like Delfino.... he can play on my team..... but it would have to be in spot duty off the bench.

To me a lot comes down to the role that is created for him, and how he accepts that role. I wonder how Marion's presence might work for him. Ultimately he seems best suited as more of a sixth man, but who knows? I always expect more good surprises than bad surprises, and we got all the bad surprises we need last season already.

As long as we get rid of Anthony Parker's old legs and fadeaway 1 inch inside the arc... we're better than we were last year.

Delfino is an upgrade on every part of the game over Parker (except for maybe the corner 3). Parker overhelps and defence and got burned so many times, he's old, he'd take fadeaway jumpers early in the shotclock and couldn't run the floor for 30+ minutes of fast break because of his age.

If we went 9 - 4 to end the season w/ AP, we'd go 10 - 3 with Delfino.

Delfino is a guy who looks good on a mediocre-poor team because a) He isn't afraid to shoot, and shoot a lot, and b) he goes for a lot of steals.

But on a good team, that plays fundamentally sound basketball every game, a risk taker like Delfino just isn't needed.

And his ball-handling and decision making is just so incredibly overrated. I can't wait to see him split the defense on the first pick and roll he runs at the top of the key.

delfino has very good handle, he could play some point guard if pressed. All in all, for 3+ mils I can't see anything better. I'd rather have delfino for 4m than gordon for 9+.

i think delfino will prove to be very valuable throughout the season bringing some depth for the team..i would love to see him coming off the bench and for us to obtain a legit starting 2....but evene if he turns out to be the starting 2..we could do worse...he does bring some positives to the table

Start Marion @ SG with Delfino as his backup?

Draft derozan as the backup SF and sign (FA or MLE) a starting SF?

Too bad Marion can't shoot for shit, because he can certainly defend the SG position.

Delfino can really develop into a do it all role on the team.

Hopefully he'll at least show some consistency on the defensive end which is probably our most glaring need. He's a streaky scorer though. Would definitely work well with the core we have now.

(1) He played through an ankle injury for 4 months
(2) Euro basket is very different (Papaloukas had been MVP with less than 10ppg)
(3) Russian league sucks (he didn't need to play much there, that's why that numbers, it means he rested)
(4) His ballhandling and assist numbers increased a lot, because he was the go to guy
(5) He hit big shots - a pull up three with 1:00 remaining that took the team to Eurocup finals - a drive with the foul in Eurocup final (Khimki's D blew that game winning shot) - a drive that won game 3 of Russian finals
(6) He's much more improved, specially mentally (his shot selection and consistency)

take a look at his numbers per game on eurocup (he played final eight with an ankle injury)

DELFINO, CARLOS - Welcome to Eurocup

take a look at what he can do when he's hot
