And what if Amir is used as trade bait to bring back a better backup winger or something else.

Pops got us 5.1ppg, 5.4 rebounds, half a steal in 13 minutes a game (in 19 games last year).

Amir is averaging 4 ppg, 4rpg, 0.4 steals in 15 minutes a game (in his 9 games)

Overall Pops had more energy and looked to be more skillful than Amir.

Pops would add some more grit and offensive rebounding. You can't have enough guys who can rebound on this team and those offensive ones are usually back breakers and game changers. You could just get Jack to toss up a bunch of his bricks and Pops would score them on putbacks.

waive POB and get back POPS! even if his skill hasent improved, i'd rather have his intense self on the bench than pob, banks, douby(oh wait..)

I don't know why you don't want Pops, Better have pops on the bench not playing at all, than POB on the bench sleeping, looking like a vegetable!

I say get Pops. And when Reggie is back, have one or the other on the floor at all times.
Have you watched any games? Bosh is not rebounding? You must be on crack.

Yeah and we would be the one's getting massacred, none of those guys handle the ball well (turnovers galore) and none are offensive juggernauts so how you think they could massacre anyone is beyond me.

Wow in hindsight I wish the Raps would have grabbed Earl Boykins for the league min................how many times could he have helped with energy that the Raps have sometimes lacked from the back court?

I think their are still much better options available out their than bringing Pops back!

I don't know how anyone can say it'd be a BAD thing, having another energy big wouldn't "hurt" us per se, I'm just not sure how much it'd help us either. I'm indifferent.

What is the general consensus on Pops' D? I can see this guy playing a similar role to Reggie in terms of stats, with a little more scoring (not saying much.)

Maybe you missed the last 3 games? The Raps only gave up 93 points per.
They've been playing GREAT Defense! Jose was stellar against Rose, Davis, and Stoudemire! (Jose covered Amar'e exceptionally well causing 4 TO)

I'd like to have Pops back, and even though we do have Amir, you can never have enough guys who get after it and bring a ton of energy on the court. That's infectious. However, I think it's best to reserve that space for around the trade deadline when perhaps we could swing another deal if need be to address a pressing need.

I'd much rather have Amir than Pops, if that's where this thing is headed, which it shouldn't. Grange thinks the thing that might bring him here would be Reggie not healing, And well - that would suck completely.

Quote:
I’m getting the sense that the Raptors are going to make a waiver claim on Pops Mensah-Bonsu who was released last week by the Houston Rockets. With Reggie Evans still struggling to have his foot heal, the talk around the arena yesterday was of the wistful variety: wouldn’t it be nice to have an energizing; rebounding game-changer off the bench. The release of Quincy Douby opened up the roster spot; Pops deal isn’t guaranteed. Don’t be shocked if the Raptors pick him up.

giving pops a couple of 10-days or a non-guaranteed contract would be fine with me, but he'll be totally redundant when reggie comes back. is it too early in the season for 10-days?

he would be.

which makes me think that it would be kind of a douche move to make... to bring the guy over for less than a month knowing full well that you have no real interest to keep him around... and then to drop him.

I don't really like the idea.
