They mention them, but I don't know where else they might have misplaced that 7 million. About 4.9 from Gray, Lucas and Anderson, as we noted, but the other 2.1...

If we assume they missed the 120% that rookies sign for, that's another .6 million on Valanciunas' contract and 0.4 million on Ross'. If they assumed Fields counts for 5 million instead of the averaged 6.2 that would account for the remaining difference. Maybe that's it?

Default McGuire signed, Fields updated

McGuire is clearly signing to a minimum contract, whether it is one year or two. I'm including Magloire even though he signed a partially guaranteed contract - with the guarantee unclear just yet. Fields I'm updating to basketball-reference's numbers, as they match up with Sham's numbers and he hasn't updated yet.

Jose Calderon $10,561,982
Andrea Bargnani $10,000,000
Landry Fields: $6,250,000
Amir Johnson $6,050,000
Kyle Lowry $5,750,000
Linas Kleiza $4,600,000
Jonas Valanciunas: $3,374,640 (120% of rookie scale)
DeMar DeRozan $3,344,250
Aaron Gray $2,575,000
Terrence Ross $2,563,320 (120% of rookie scale)
Ed Davis $2,207,040
John Lucas III $1,500,000
Alan Anderson $854,389 ($885,120 actual salary)
Jamaal Magloire $854,389 ($1,352,181 actual salary)
Dominic McGuire $854,389 ($992,680 actual salary)
Quincy Acy $665,000

Total: $62,004,399 - 4.0M cap deficit

Salary Cap: $58.044 million
Tax Threshold: $70.307 million

McGuire signed a 2-year contract, so the full minimum amount is his salary figure, rather than the 2-year-vet salary. Everything else confirmed by Sham outside of Magloire.

Jose Calderon $10,561,982
Andrea Bargnani $10,000,000
Landry Fields: $6,250,000
Amir Johnson $6,050,000
Kyle Lowry $5,750,000
Linas Kleiza $4,600,000
Jonas Valanciunas: $3,374,640 (120% of rookie scale)
DeMar DeRozan $3,344,250
Aaron Gray $2,575,000
Terrence Ross $2,563,320 (120% of rookie scale)
Ed Davis $2,207,040
John Lucas III $1,500,000

Paging Dan H...Paging Dan H...

What does this trade do for us financially? For the future? Will we have enough to re-sign Lowry (if no trades happen) the year after next?

I know BC's not done, but it would be good to keep an eye on the finances while all of this is happening.

Thanks!

So... First, the trade breakdown. Just for kicks.

Raptors:
Jose Calderon (10.56 M) and Ed Davis (2.21 M) and 2nd Round Pick 2013 (Total = 12.77 M)
for
Rudy Gay (16.46 M) and Hamed Haddadi (1.3 M) (Total = 17.76 M)

Note that Jose has a trade kicker, so it is different from DET's point of view.
Tayshaun Prince (6.76 M) and Austin Daye (2.96 M) (Total = 9.72 M)
for
Jose Calderon (11.62 M)

Rudy Gay (16.46 M) and Hamed Haddadi (1.3 M) (Total = 17.76 M)
for
Tayshaun Prince (6.76 M), Austin Daye (2.96 M), Ed Davis (2.21 M) and 2nd round pick 2013 (Total = 11.93 M)

TOR's is the tightest in terms of incoming salary - they JUST fit the deal within the $5 M limit (by about 10 k). Everyone else works really easily.

Default Future commitments...

2013-14:

Rudy Gay $17,888,931
Andrea Bargnani $10,750,000
Landry Fields $6,250,000
Amir Johnson $6,550,000
Kyle Lowry $6,210,000
Linas Kleiza $4,600,000 (Player option)
Jonas Valanciunas $3,526,440
DeMar DeRozan $9,500,000
Aaron Gray $2,690,875
Terrence Ross $2,678,640
Hamed Haddadi $1,397,500 ($200,000 guaranteed)
John Lucas $1,567,500 (Team option)
Quincy Acy $788,872
Team Totals $74,398,758

So, the tax line will be going up, but who knows by how much. But it will probably be a little above the 70.31 M it is now. We can clear a bunch by amnestying Kleiza, waiving Haddadi and not picking up Lucas' option, putting us at 67.03 M with 10 players signed (and 3 spaces to fill).

We'd have a solid wing lineup with Gay, DD, Fields and Ross locked in, with Fields and Gay able to spot at the 4 in small ball lineups. We'd be thin up front, with Bargnani, Amir, and Gray, so one of those spots to fill would have to be a big. The other two would have to be a backup PG and probably a combo G to be the third PG and spot minutes at the 2 in case of a wing injury.

There would be room for two minimum signings and a 2 M or so contract to fill those positions if they want to stay under the tax. If they are willing to spend over the cap, the full MLE (5.15 M) is available to us, plus minimum contracts, so long as we stay below the apron (the tax line + 4 M) - for a total of 7.5 M plus in spending available to us.

2014-15:

Rudy Gay $19,317,325 (PO)
Andrea Bargnani $11,500,000 (ETO)
Landry Fields $6,250,000
Amir Johnson $7,050,000 ($5,000,000 guaranteed)
Jonas Valanciunas $3,678,360
DeMar DeRozan $9,500,000
Terrence Ross $2,793,960
Quincy Acy $915,243 (unguaranteed)
Team Totals $61,004,888

Still over the cap (though it could conceivably rise enough that this is not true) and well clear of the tax, but with only 8 players locked in and 5 spots to fill, and only the MLE and minimums to fill out the roster. Of course, this year is very dependent on what happens the year before, so I won't go into detail like above.

2015-16

Jonas, Demar, and Ross are locked in, and that's it.

2016-17

Demar stands alone.

colangelo said that as it stands, we will be just over the tax, so you must be missing something, maybe there are some performance bonuses not showing?

I think he meant next year, which lines up with what I put above. No way we hit the tax this year, since it is based on total spent for the year, not cap hit, and we only have this expensive lineup for the second half of the year.

if we amnesty kleiza and manage to trade Bargs for someone who's salary is half as much we could be at around 63 mill next year. Enough to maybe sign a decent player
