With Buycks being waived (reportedly soon), that means we are down to 15 players. So either a) Garrett is kept, b) Garrett is waived and no one replaces him or c) he is waived and we sign a third PG or depth C with 1.4M or less.
What happens if BeBe does get sent overseas for this upcoming season? Is his salary still added?

Josh Lewenberg ‏@JLew1050 6m
Raptors waive Dwight Buycks and Diante Garrett, as expected. Both non-guaranteed contracts. Roster stands at 13. Nogueira would make it 14

Right. And probably won't be. Plan is to stash him in Europe.

Well, his cap hold still sits on the cap in the summer and after the season (but not during the season), but cap holds don't count against the tax, so it would give us more space below the tax.

But reports are a buyout deal is in process and is expected to be completed soon so he can come over this year. Both BeBe and the Raptors want him here, only an unexpected snag with his buyout would prevent him from coming over.

Stephon Brotherston has a ways to go before he has the credibility of Chris Broussard.

Thanks, Dan. Honestly I don't know what we'd do on here if it wasn't for your cap analysis wizardry. It really clears up a lot of those untenable trade/FA suggestions.

Yeah, that sounds incredibly concrete. And don't forget bebe tweeted what was referred to as a disturbing message, namely thanking the Raptors for the opportunity to play in the summer league. We might as well just consider him as being off the roster.

Nothing is concrete until it's official, if you feel that there is no true to this, so be it. You could be right, I'm not saying it's a fact, but from my experience these sources are quite accurate. (they are saying that it's very likely, so they don't claim it's decided)
Anyway I think it would be pretty good for the Raps, Barcelona/Real would pay the buyout, and Lucas would get to play in Eurolegue and develop his game more, and when he is ready he would still be on the rookie contract.

So Sham confirms GV and JJ's deals. I'll put together the full summary.

Default Final GV and JJ numbers

Now I am going to stop making assumptions, since Sham updated his salaries.

Since we are dealing with the tax, I'm including likely AND unlikely incentives (DD's is likely, so counts against cap space and tax, Amir's is unlikely so counts only against the tax calc).

2014-15:
Kyle Lowry $12,000,000
DeMar DeRozan $10,100,000 (incl 600k incentive)
Amir Johnson $7,050,000 (5 M guar, incl 50k incentive)
Greivis Vasquez $6,400,000
Landry Fields $6,250,000
Chuck Hayes $5,958,750
Patrick Patterson $5,831,326
Lou Williams $5,450,000
Jonas Valanciunas $3,678,360
Tyler Hansbrough $3,326,235
Terrence Ross $2,793,960
James Johnson $2,500,000
Bruno Caboclo $1,458,360
Marcus Camby $646,609 (buyout)

Nando de Colo $1,901,900 (cap hold; $1,828,750 QO)
Lucas (BeBe) Nogueira $1,468,900 (cap hold; will be $1,762,680)

Above roster, with NDC overseas and BeBe signed to 120%: $75,206,280

Confirmed:
Cap: 63.035 M
Tax: 76.829 M
Apron/Hard Cap: 80.829 M

So that leaves 1.62M before hitting the tax.

Sham reports that we used the tax-payer's MLE on Johnson (his 2.5M fits into the 3.278 MLE, meaning we have 778k left over). So we have ONLY the minimum to offer free agents (or just above the minimum for rookies), or our TPE's to absorb traded salary. Also, we are not hard capped, so if Ujiri decides to make a trade taking on salary this season, we may well go fairly deep into the tax.

2015-16:
Kyle Lowry $12,000,000
DeMar DeRozan $10,100,000 (incl 600k incentive)
Greivis Vasquez $6,600,000
Patrick Patterson $6,268,675
Jonas Valanciunas $4,660,482
Terrence Ross $3,553,917
James Johnson $2,500,000
Lucas (BeBe) Nogueira $1,842,000
Bruno Caboclo $1,524,000
1st 2015 (assumed 20th): $1,257,800

Nando de Colo $1,901,900 (cap hold; $1,828,750 QO)

Total including Nando: $50,950,970
Total if Nando's rights renounced: $49,049,070

Projected cap: 66.5M

So we look to have between 15.5 and 17.5M in cap space next summer.

Amir is going to be a UFA, no? Wonder what happens there.

Most things staying the same on this development curve, I suppose depending on what Ross' development looks like (30 min, 14 points, stifling D, dead-eye from 3), the next move could be to land a near all-star PF?

In other words, by the start of 2016 season........

Lowry/Vasquez
DD/Williams
Ross/Loco/JJ
X/Patterson
JV/Bebe

Not sure I can see Patterson as a dominant 4 on a contending team.
And sorry, Amir. Feel like a traitor even saying it.

If Amir's ankles don't hold up this season I have a feeling he won't be back. Either way I think most or all of our capspace next summer is spent at the PF position. Especially considering TH will also be gone. Maybe we keep Amir using the MLE?

If we use cap room, we'll have only the room MLE - 2 years and about 2.5M per. Not enough for Amir I don't think.

Amir is at least a full MLE player. It would probably be more if only he could stay healthy.
