Lowry can be extended for 3 years, $21.4M. This is true whether he signs it now or June 30th or anywhere in between.

DanH :
if we trade for jefferson (11M expiring) and get ride of novak and fields.
that should mean that we would have a capspace of 17M (=11M(RF) + 6.2M(KL) + 6.5M(JS)+ 3.1M (PP) + 2.1M(GV))

my question, is :
can we sign a 10M-15M FA in the off season and resign Lowry to a 9M/yr and PP to a 7M/yr ?

I'm currently projecting, at best, 4 to 5 M in cap space after resigning Lowry and PP. If we lose Novak and Fields, that clears about 10M. That leaves about 14M in cap space. But good luck convincing a team to take them for an expiring.

To be precise, assuming we cut TH, Salmons, and Daye, and get the 20th overall pick, and trade Novak and Fields for expirings, and re-sign Lowry for 10M per year and Patterson for 5M per year (more realistic estimates in my opinion), we would have 12.2M in cap space.

And again I reiterate that there's no way that happens without losing draft picks, which should not even be considered an option.

Moving Novak for a contract of Field's length would pretty much guarantee maximum cap space in 2015, even if we re-sign PP, Lowry and Amir (to reasonable deals).

Is it possible to trade for Denver's option to swap New York's pick?
In other words can we trade for option to:
a)swap NY Denver picks
b)do not trade for the swap, but take away Denvers option to swap

Can we somehow get NY pick to become unprotected without trading for Denvers 2016 1st?

Sure. It would probably be worded something like "DEN relinquishes right to swap." Or you could go all the way and it could be "TOR receives right to swap NYK 2016 pick with DEN 2016 pick."

In terms of protections, swaps, etc, you can pretty much do whatever you want, so long as you don't violate the 7 year or Stepien rule.

Default As uninteresting as it is...

Here's the details of the de Colo trade as they are currently reported.

Raptors trade Austin Daye ($947,907 this year, $250k guaranteed next year)

---

Spurs trade Nando de Colo ($1,463,000; RFA this summer)

There you have it. Fits within the 150% + 100k limitation for non-tax teams.
