As a non-Canadian, I have to say that Toronto is nicer than 90% of American NBA cities. I (like Joakim Noah) don't understand who the fuck would want to live in Cleveland for a good portion of the year. Our organization has been a bit of a mess pretty much since VC left, so if a player doesn't want to sign here for that reason, that's one thing. But realistically, Toronto the city should have absolutely no problems attracting players.

there are several reasons they don't want to play here:

1) No history of winning
2) Perception of the taxes
3) Weather (although to me this one makes no sense)
4) Only non US team which doesn't get much/any exposure in US
5) Dealing with customs

I was glad when TL was hired and in one of his first interviews he stated most of these issues and essentially called them bullshit and that they need to be clear to NBA players and the league that it's bullshit. He even talked about getting players more clearance so that customs wasn't an issue.

so it appears that contrary to reports earlier in the year, the cap space is not going to jump much, nowhere near the 20% jump in revenues reported at some point.

Tax threshold projected to be 71.6M. Again, can still change, but won't likely change much.

Read my post on the previous page. The revenue may have gone up a fair amount from the last 82 game season, it's just that the new CBA changed the BRI formula to one that is more favourable to the owners. Some of us, myself included, didn't know about the BRI change until months after Stern announced the projected revenue increase, so we thought that the cap would go up, too.

What does the tax threshold mean? You have to spend 71m to spend into the tax?

Yes. Up to 71Mil you don't pay tax on any salary.

when i say no one I mean me . but i don't remember people being happy about it. Thing is he was willing to give $52 mil to a lazy player, doesn't matter if Portland wanted to give him $45 mil. He was never worth the money he was giving. If he was so important to Orlando they would've happily given him the money.

the only legit issue would be the weather, but half the teams have to deal with that. win and people will come. each player has to pay taxes to state where they play the road game.
even if they live in a state with no income tax (Texas, Florida) they're still paying. I don't know why fans have the perception that playing in Miami means no income tax.

Most fans were happy about it, maybe not so much with the size of the contract, but that was out of our hands since we had to outbid Portland.

As far as Orlando goes, they probably regretted it since they traded for him the next season ...

Not a lot of room to make moves.

I think 's first move will tell a lot about the direction he plans on taking this team next season (and it could happen in the next 36 hours)

If it's Bargnani it won't tell us much

Depends what it is for.

It could open up cap room for next season to make a bigger move.

It could get us a couple draft picks (don't have high hopes it'll land us anything of major importance) to start building on the youth, development movement he mentioned in his press conference.

Would Amnestied leave us some cap space this season? (Not sure if this is a realistic option).

Amnesty alone does very little. Dump Bargnani's salary for picks and a prospect then Amnesty someone (Kleiza?) and we'd get a little wiggle room.

thanks Danh !

question :
if we strach landry contract until 2018, (13.5M/5yrs = 2.7/yr) . it mean a 3.5M economy with our capspace, right ?
and if we amnesty Kleiza, it's 4.6M substract from our cap also, still right ?
and if we do the buttler-barg trade, we will eco 3M more :
that mean we will have a team totals of 60.2M.

so my question is, in that case, what type of exception will we have ?

I believe to have the full MLE we have to be under the cap, not sure about the mini mid level (2.8mil)
