Knicks Raptors Apparently Interested in Lee?

Hmmm .... if the O'Neal trade goes through, who or what else do we have to offer the Knicks?

The Knicks continue to have interest in trading forward David Lee to Memphis for the fifth pick, which would allow Walsh to land not only Gallinari, but also UCLA point guard Russell Westbrook. But the team executive cautioned that Walsh is exploring other trade scenarios for Lee, and The New York Times has confirmed what Newsday reported in today's paper -- that Portland is one of those scenarios.

The Knicks and Blazers are said to be discussing a deal that would send Lee to Portland along with the No. 6 pick and another player for Portland's 13th and 27th selections and Steve Blake or Jarrett Jack. Such a deal would indicate that Walsh knows he won't get the player he really wants at No. 6 -- USC guard O.J. Mayo -- and prefers to accumulate extra picks, add a veteran point guard, and unload Lee in the process. Lee, a fan favorite and elite rebounder, isn't a natural fit for Mike D'Antoni's system and soon will be due a hefty contract extension.

Alan Hahn tells me that, despite Toronto's interest in Lee, the Raptors have yet to engage in any trade talks for him.

The Knicks also continue to shop Zach Randolph, but haven't found any takers for the three years and $48 million left on his contract.

He averaged like 10 ppg this season....in his prime. How much would we possibly have to give up for Lee? It shouldn't be too much.

But I think we should go for their #6

Why would we want another power forward?

You're right, we already have one of the best in the front court category in the league, why get another PF?

Lee could also play the 3. Think Nocioni. Lee would be a fan favourite here. He plays the game the right way - he hustles, he can drain shots, defend...but I can't see the Knicks just giving him away.. I don't know what the Raps could offer to acquire him.. We just have expirings.

Prime? What are you smoking? He just turned 25 and is going into his 3rd season in the NBA.

What does his PPG average have to do with anything?

He's a highly coveted player.

First of all he turned 25 like 2 months ago.

Second, he just finished his 3rd season, so he's going into his 4th season, actually.

Thirdly, the age of a player's prime usually starts by the time 25-26 comes.

It's right here

Actually, he could play 3, 4 or 5. That's versatility.

Jesus man. Don't get your panties in a bunch .... its a difference of opinion. You don't enter your prime in professional sports until your latter 20's in my OPINION. You feel otherwise I guess. And yes, I was wrong. He's entering his 4th season and not his 3th. Crucify me now for I'm actually human and made a mistake.

There's no way we're in on this..

Lee To Portland?
David Lee | Knicks
According to executives with two teams, the Knicks are discussing a swap of first-round picks with Portland. The Knicks would send the No. 6 pick, forward David Lee and another player to the Trail Blazers for the 13th and 27th picks and a player, possibly Steve Blake or Jarrett Jack. (Portland is acquiring the 27th pick from New Orleans.) -- New York Times

The Knicks have talked to Portland about trading down, swapping No. 6 with 13, possibly gaining point guard Jarrett Jack. But a league source said Walsh has very little interest in trading down, only up.
The Knicks have one big trade pawn -- Lee. And if he goes tonight, there will be lots of groans at the Garden's Theatre from the fans who enjoyed his grit.

"Everyone's calling the Knicks about David, if you want to do a deal with the Knicks, they want David Lee," his agent Mark Bartelstein said. "With a new regime, it's always a possibility at this time of year." -- New York Post

I was just talking about Lee's season year and age, not about primes.

But whatever man.

We couldn't/shouldn't aquire Lee, whats the point? Bargs will be our bench PF with whoever we sign with our MLE...or hump, we need a swingman...this would be redundant

If Lee goes to Portland, the rest of the league can forget about trying in 3 years. He'd be the perfect bench compliment to Roy/Oden/Alderidge in the starting lineup.
