According to Doug, Raptors are likely to make it official today with introducing Matt as their new play-by-play analyst next season.

Don’t know much about him, actually. But he’s worked in Charlotte and around the league for quite some time.

Yeah, I was just as surprised as you were Knight. Who would of thunk it? Marty for once wasn't pulling something extreme out of his ass.

I don't need to be entertained or energized by the colour guy, the game itself is entertaining enough. Plus, Jack is still there to entertain - HELLO!

i guess we'll just have to wait if coming up with cheesy nicknames and lame-ass catch phrases comes as naturally to Devlin as it did to Swirsky.

i realize that Chuck had many fans - and that's cool. Personally i found him as entertaining as a bad stand up comedian.

Cool

I liked Swirsky... but hopefully we are getting a team on the floor that is exciting to watch -- no matter who is calling it!!!!

Enthusiasm is one thing, but colourful pet names and corny sayings were too much for most to take including myself. I hope Devlin is as enthusiastic, but that he doesn't try and replace Chuck's corny ways.

I dont understand why you all disliked chuck? Yes he was a homer and he came up with lame catch phrases... but he brought energy to every game, gave 100% every time and honestly did alot for the fans.

He was 100% fan friendly, after games and prior he would talk to fans, discuss ball. I even remember my buddy emailing him about the gasol trade and the guy replied instantly. He gave out his personal cell # if you wanted to talk ball with him or had a question, and according to him he recieved and replied to 150 emails a day on average.

He was fan friendly and his energy, and catch phrases helped make NBA basketall in this hockey crazy city IMO. I read his blog daily and i cant recall how many times people who emailed him thanked him for introducing and getting them interested in ball. Plus he was the only guy on the radio who actully wanted to talk ball and take calls from fans to have some interesting dicussions.

He was annoying and he isn't the brightest sports mind out there. So I get annoyed with him pretty quickly.

Was he a nice guy? Yes, I don't think you could question that however, it was his over the top mannerisms which drove me absolutely insane and his random chit chat about nothing, literally nothing during broadcasts which drove me even more nuts.

Chuck as a human being is a very nice guy. I'm not attacking his character, I just can't stand his corny sayings and names for people during telecasts.

Its all about preference. Some like it, and I don't. I'm not implying he's a bad person because of it though.

Leo's a colour commentator, not a play-by-play dude. Big difference. And don't be surprised if Leo isn't back either next year. Rumour back a couple months ago was that it was either Jack or Leo who was gone after last season too. So, we'll see but don't write off Devlin until you have a chance to listen to him here at least.

Chuck could easily next to Bosh be the face of Raptors BASKETBALL in this city. Not all raptor fans are hardcore fans that watch every game, go on forums and have discussions or follow it every day of there lives like we do.

I'd say the MAJORITY of fans dont follow Raptors ball at all, (else this place would be flooded as much as a leafs forum), but i would say if you ask the a non-hardcore fan who watches half the games every season and attends 1-2 games a year they could identify who Chuck Swirsky is.

Yes hes corny at times but in this market, im positive mosttttttttt people see chuck leaving as a huge loss for this city.
