I suspected a joke, but if so - the joke is on Acie. Amnestying Amir actually does make perfect sense, especially if we draft big and are serious about going after Deron.

You've been on this for a while Mike but I'm still not convinced.... Deron would be taking a HUGE risk signing with us.... and for what? Jersey/Brooklyn is going to have a high pick as well and they have Hump, Lopez and Morrow who are all decent. He might as well re-sign with them if he's not concerned with going to a contender.

What about Bargs?

Not to mention JV, JJ, Ed, DeRozan and the rest of the crew.

How is the joke on me? Because I thought about something that would make sense and ran with it.

Didn't they trade away their pick?

hahahaha good one. Only problem about it is that Doug Smith ends up being more wrong than right. so even if it was a real blog entry or whatever, i wouldn't put much stock into it.

anyways, you had me going there Acie.

and for the record i've always been critical of that contract.

They'd all have to be clearly better for Deron to come here though.... and they're not...

Well, yeah. Perhaps it's me not understanding the concept correctly, but isn't April Fool's joke supposed to be something pretty outrageous, on a verge of not making sense at all, but sounding plausible enough for "fools" to fall for? Something like this: The Taco Liberty Bell

Great Doug Smith impersonation.

Very viable storyline to follow heading into this summer. Ed or Amir need to go, and as much as I love Amir Johnson and what he brings to the city and the team, his contract makes him easier to get rid of.

i think it's BS.

AJ show how he hustle every games, last season he plays through many injury.
when you have a guy whom don't play like a weeper, and he has a decent contract for a backup, you don't use amnesty on him.

if we keep Gray, bargs, and we add JV, you have a choice between keeping ed or amir ? really ?
because all depends on the draft. if we end up with a SF, then i say, that will make more sense to amnesty none of them. but trade them.

kleiza would make more sense. high maintenance guy this last two season for a thin production and almost the same contract.
buyout a player if you can't trade him make more sense than continue to pay for him the rest of his contract.

also, i really don't think we have too much bigs. for now, next season we have :
barg, JV, Amir and ED and maybe Gray.
5 bigs that not too much.

and i don't see BC use the amnesty for a 5M contract. that make no sense to me.

amir is very tradeable imo, he makes about 5.5 a year for the remaining 3 years, and he's quite productive. You could do a lot worse than amir as a 4/5 backup.

As far as deron coming here, it's not happening, so forget about it.

Lol.... you're putting a lot of faith in BC Mike.... a guy who couldn't even convince Wilson Chandler to sign with us when he would have been a guaranteed starter.

Nice try.

They didn't have the bread available to sign him.

I thought they'd be bring in Nash as a free agent this summer. If BC can't do that, I like to see Rondo in a raps jersey. He ripped into the Heat the other day.
