400MIL

:yeah:

Chiggmo 01-26-2011 09:59 PM

Damn theres like 400+ people worth a billion or more dollars in the US? Greedy fucks. Nobody needs that kind of money.

jeffb 01-26-2011 10:02 PM

This team makes 25Mil profit and hasn't made the playoffs in 3yrs. Impressive if you ask me.

Ammo 01-26-2011 10:16 PM

notes:

1. They are going to say these numbers are all wrong and that Forbes does not have access to all figures, especially with a new CBA coming

2. Never mind Memphis, Charlotte needs to move back to Vancouver.

3. They are making decent profit and they refuse to be a tax team. Sell this bitch to a deep pocket individual owner who just wants to break even and we are a contender every year. We are being cheated as fans by corporate greed.

Decent Profit? 25Mil profit is impressive, and 138Mil in revenue is also impressive. As for becoming a tax team, that'll only happen if we're close to contending which we've never really been. You don't go into the tax in hopes of becoming a contender.

Just got off the phone with Mark Cuban. He says he's not putting up with that hope to be close to start spending theory. Where would this team have been right now if over the last few years, they would at least sometimes took even half of the 25 mil, added it to the modest salary of some d-leaguer and upgrade a position or two. Probably not a laughingstock.

the NBA really needs to give Vancouver another chance.

i'm tired of going all the way to Portland to watch basketball games.

Don't worry, Seattle will get another franchise. Ironically it might be via the Grizzlies. :haha:

gtanev 01-26-2011 11:51 PM

Toronto is the team that is spending the least in the top 10.

Nuh uh. We have a better, and newer, stadium. :dancing:

Toronto might be White Vegas but Vancouver is Hollywood North. Lol.

Vancouver was a disaster and no Canadian team will get a second chance in the NBA anytime soon. Just don't get your hopes up. And Toronto is as much Hollywood North as Vancouver is, probably moreso.

Ammo 01-27-2011 12:09 AM

The Knicks have been a zoo for a few years, so ignore them, but I bet you can guess what most of the contending teams have in common. They go ahead and pay the tax. If your aim was just to break even for the regular season, the playoff success you get most years would line your pockets and give you some respect around the league.

As for MLSE, fans are being made fools of because the same site says the Leafs earned 82.5 mil. At least they have an excuse not to spend....a hard cap. The Raptors really don't. The whole thing is a money making entity first. Never mind going to the game and watching the Raptors get their asses kicked. Just walk up to a 64 year old teacher and hand him $200 every time you get the urge to go to a game.

Unfortunately, we never had that star player that could keep games somewhat competitive, or exciting to watch, towards the end. Plus, the would be ownership like to spend money when they can.

Hopefully the Raptors change the perception of Canada, and basketball. :sigh:

No, I think i was right the first time. Vancouver = Hollywood North. Toronto = White Vegas. :haha:

You do know why Vancouver was a disaster though?

Due to the rising Canadian Dollar + the success of the Olympics I guarantee you Vancouver is on the map right now. If Stern does believe in his international model for expansion, then it's almost necessary to at least expand in a neighboring country first.

Really, being in Vancouver makes more financial sense than being in Kansas City, St. Louis, Baltimore and even Vegas.

We are soooooo out in the middle of nowhere now. Like frickin' Utah is our closest rival, and they're over 1000 miles away easy.

And NO, Seattle ain't getting a basketball team anytime soon. The el-cheap o's that run that city are happy without the crusty Sonics. The city has turned their attention to their gay MLS soccer team. 40,000+ Seattle fans swarm that watered down version of proffesional soccer, less then 4,000 would attend Sonic basketball games.

RAPMAN 01-27-2011 08:55 AM

We should be higher on that list. Toronto is the 4th largest population in North America. The Top 3, New York, LA, and Chicago. More than 40% of Canadian millionaires live in the GTA. All the major corporate head offices reside in the GTA area. Toronto is the financial capital of Canada. The only reason Toronto is not higher on that list is on-court success. All the money and adverstising that come from the playoffs.

MARTYNAS 01-27-2011 09:04 AM

I saving for Los Angeles Lakers.
643000000$ kinda expensive.

Raptorman 01-27-2011 09:27 AM

Unfortunately MLSE will that at that chart and pat themselves on the back instead of looking at the NBA standings chart.
