Default Raptor Fans take a time out !

There is so much negative bullshit being written about our team that its time for a time out. We are 5-7 and thats after playing western teams 8 times. Its early folkes we will be just fine. So many were ready to throw the team under the bus after seeing the first part of the schedule.Based on the schedule and with having so many new players being 5-7 is not that bad. Its not the end of the world.

I must say the whole "so many new players" argument has been played to death. These guys are professionals and its been more than 10 regular season games. I think the excuse is done in my books.

Team gelling problably accounts to 3 to 5 more win or so. Not like its earth shatteringly different if your teammates know each other well or now. Yes its a difference but not a deep one.

As for the negative stuff. I dunno you want positive I loved the Belli run last night and the fact Bosh bounced back.

There positive

I agree.

It's still a work in progress.

I thought we'd have a far worse record than we do right now.

Though, it's tough swallow when they let stuff slip right through their fingers.

I don't get where all the negativity comes from really. I mean we all are guity for the most part of getting down so far. But when you step back and look at this team with 9 new players, key injuries to Hedo, Evans, Wright.....then look at the schedule, what did anveryone expect? Then you look at the thread of predictions for the first 17 games , this is pretty much in line with what most posters predicted. Better in many cases.

The new players thing is bullshit. Its been preseason + 12 regualr season games (thats more then 1/8th of the season) This team should be gelled.

Problems
-Jack and his horrible shots + crazy amound of turn overs (he is alsmost shooting in the 20's% for the season) and dont get me started on the JJ/Jose mix
-effort - against utah for one (first quarter was a complete joke) this team turns it effort and defence on and off like a switch. (Sorry guys but as we have seen being down 20 points in the first 7 minutes of the first quarter is not acceptable)
- Hedo looking like he is a 45 year old that just got himself castrated (half the time the guy looks like he is ready for a nap rather then shwing intensity, + how many times this this guy gonna fumble the ball looking like he is half asleep (like against the suns)
- and the "new players" thing, well thats just old now. They should know what perosple like ect there are only 8-10 players playing on a dauly basis for fuck sake
- Lack of Reggie Evans (most important at this point)

They had the whole preseason and now 12 games into the regular season screw this gelling BS.

The Jazz were 4-6 before last night and were playing without their starting Center.

We're on a 3 game losing streak and lost the last two by double digits. Yes, I know we have a brutal schedule and Denver and Utah got basically got a vacation before playing us... but that's how the dice rolls.

One thing I find is at least this team is tryiing. It really don't look like its from a lack of commitment. Teams that show to be average are just inconsistent at times. One time they are world beater the next they can't grab a board if there lives depended on it.

I'd like to see more of a Fluid team. That may happen as JT fixes the rotation

It's just the lack of effort from SOME players that bugs me to no end.

Players that I feel are busting their asses:

Bosh, Amir, Belli, DD

Player that I feel are "coasting" at times:

Hedo, Bargs, Jack

The rest are somewhere in between.

I can excuse a lack of talent..... I had little problem with the PHX game because of that fact. Ditto for DEN I guess.

I CAN'T excuse a lack of effort/desire though.. which has resulted in about 3 or 4 of our losses so far.

i agree with that for sure....it bugs me when the easiest rebound is not pulled down due to plain lack of effort. or when someone just gets an easy path to the basket and nobody moves a muscle to help out. if they work their asses off, and lose then i can accept it. all teams lose, some are just better then you.

with that being said, the Raptors have had good efforts at periods of the game. first half in denver, 3rd quarter in utah. i dont know what it is, but for some reason it is not sustained. is it fatigue? brain farts? i have no idea

That's a basic basketball skill. Unless you're rotating to a shooter or trying to block a shot there should be NO way that you allow your man to go the rim unchallenged.

Amir gets it.... Reggie gets it... Bosh gets it... why can't the other guys?

From what I've heard, if some of the Raps played with YOUR intensity on the court none of us would have anything to complain about.

People say relax, while the best player ever to wear the Raptor Uniform is in the balance. Let say we still try to gel and still coast to the trade deadline and the team is around .500, you think Bosh will be happy. This team better start playing defense, and players (Hedo, Jack, Calderon, Bargnanis) should start bringing it on a consistent basis, or BC will be trading Bosh at the trade deadline. Once this franchise puts Bargnani as its #1 option, we'll be in the lottery for many years.

Where does this crazy ass notion come from that Bosh would be traded by the deadline. No way in hell is he traded by the deadline. If he wants out it will be done next summer in a S&T.

How much patience? Are we supposed to watch these guys play mediocre basketball until the all star game and then start panicing? Although 82 games sounds long, when we play

Orlando
Cleveland
Boston

4 times each thats already a problem there.

10 games is all the patience i have because after that your just dragging excuses through the mud

Dude, like you never hear of players demanding a trade at the trade dealine. There always a few rumblings of players wanting out at the NBA trade deadline. Golden State offered a package for Bosh at the last trade deadline. Teams were offering package deals for Amare at the last trade deadline. If this team is coasting and showing no improvement, and you are one of the few players giving it night in and night out, do you want stick around until the end of the season.

What's dissapointing is the way we gave away some very winnable games like San Antonio without Parker and Duncan, Phoenix a game we led the whole way except the final two minutes. Memphis not considered a good team and we came up completely flat. Orlando at home in a game without Vince Carter or Rashard Lewis. Last night without Okur we played a team with no outside threat, all we had to do was protect the paint like we've been preaching all year, well the Jazz sliced through the paint with minimal resistance in the first half. Where were our perimeter defenders? They sure weren't guarding three point shooters. Stuff like that is frustrating because our defence at times is very capable and half the time the worst in the league.

We need Evans to play significant minutes when he comes back, Pops who is also a physical presence has to be integrated into our rotation as much as possible because they both bring strengths in area's we have weaknesses, they provide decent post defence and are among the league leaders in offensive rebounds per 48 minutes as well as rebounds in general. They bring the toughness that we lack in the defensive end. Guys like Bosh and Bargnani are great offensively but they have to be somewhat careful defending as to not get themselves taken out of the game with foul trouble and that shows. Evans, Pops can play tough in your face defense and not worry about fouls. Wright needs to finally get healthy and back to the way he played last year, he's only been a shadow of his former self this year.

We still lack that pentrating presence. We settled for jump shots late in games vs both Phoenix and Utah while guys like Nash and Maynor went inside, late in those games to secure victories. One guy who seems to have the speed to penetrate for us is Banks, maybe we should give him a chance and make that his role.

im sorry i dont take excusess as a way out. Your either a good team who beats western teams and eastern or your not. currently its not looking good but i agrea to somewhat of an extant that the western schedule effect is rather troublesome

Jose sucked last night. I mean really sucked. And he's sucked for about half of the games. How does he not get any mention?

To me the problem is not integrating new players. It's a couple of the returnees - Bargs and Jose that are a big problem. If they play up to some kind of capabilities that we've seen in the past, then we're golden right now. I don't think they are both a write-off, but I don't think works with both of them in the mix.

Bargnani has to stop being a spectator in any case though. That is just inexcusable.

He will not be moved unless he signs an extension first. And that won't happen just prior to the deadline. I highly doubt BC could get the right package for Bosh unless he's signed long term. A two month rental wouldn't get much. He won't be dealt until next summer, if at all.
