Raptor Fans / NBA Fans

I was just having a conversation with a buddy of mine and we both were discussing whether or not if Toronto Raptor fans are TRUE NBA fans or much like the Leafs and Blue Jays fans more followers of the concept of "Toronto" followers becuase the team is based in Toronto. Proof of this is the canning of NBA games on Sportsnet for low NBA ratings.

I am a die hard Raptors fan but also am a die hard NBA fan. So I guess my question is simple, Are Raptor Fans NBA fans as well or just Toronto fans?...Make sense..Hope so..LOL

You have to be a NBA fan to like the Raptors....if you didn't like basketball, why would like the raptors....

Just for the simple fact that they're in Toronto...If there was no Raptors how many would still be NBA fans is my point...kind of like the jays in the early yrs it was "the thng" to be seen at games now theyre lucky to pull in 15,000 fans per night.

Welcome to RF kdawg.

I would think for the most part we're true fans, but there are lots that cheer for the Raptors merely because they're in Toronto. Me, I'm a "true" fan. You know how I know that? I can't stand the "Maple Laughs".

I was basketball fan before being a Raptors fan
wasn't really a Raps fan until '98, still liked the Lakers

The only occasion where I like the team more than the sport is the Jays
I only watch (full game) Jays, playoffs and rivalries (Sox/Yanks)

I'm a basketball fan and a Raptors fan.

However, i hate the NBA sometimes

but to answer your question, the only 2 sports that i can watch that don't involve the teams i root for are basketball and soccer.

Its easy to be a fan of a good team. It takes a die hard fan to jump on the bandwagon of a team that is treading water, ands quite frankly, sucks. I have been a fan of the Raps for almost 5 years of my life, which is pretty amazing if you think about it, since I'm only 13. Anyway, I also like the NBA, but my heart belongs with the Raps.

Huge basketball fan in general. Live in Vancouver and even when I was a kid and we had the Griz here, I still preferred the Raps for some reason. Maybe because they were always better, or perhaps it was my dislike of 'Big Country'. hehe

I grew up a Jazz fan.....still am. Plus, I always loved St. John's basketball in college. So to answer your question, I'm a basketball fan.

I'm a Raptors fan.

I don't watch other teams unless it's college ball - it's more authentic and more of a thinking game.

You would. Dork.

As for people ripping Toronto Leaf fans as not Hockey fans. Huge bullshit concept.

Totally.

Highly doubt there's a difference to these two things.

Maybe there should be real basketball fans vs. Laker bandwagon jumpers.
