But might not get done by Halloween deadline. But see DeRozan as key piece of future

pzabby 10-01-2012 12:29 PM

unless he has a massive step forward, I wouldn't give him more than 7mil/year

I doubt anyone gives him that much. and I think he knows that

thought 10-01-2012 12:35 PM

i dunno...if batum can get 12 mil a year, anything is possible.

jeffb 10-01-2012 12:46 PM

He's in the 7-8Mil range imo. He'll certainly get at least that.

Windex 10-01-2012 12:48 PM

whats the max a player with his experience can get?

I think he'll get around 4/$42mil

Luckedout 10-01-2012 12:51 PM

i really hope Derozan doesnt sign an extension by Halloween. let him be a restricted FA, so we can see his development over the course of the year along with our other SGs/SFs before determining what he is worth.

pzabby 10-01-2012 01:05 PM

batum is a much more complete player than derozan. he is worth the 12 million. derozan is worth max, max, 8 mil a year, and that's stretching it

DD's game still leaves a lot to be desired.

box92 10-01-2012 01:43 PM

LOG 10-01-2012 01:55 PM

when does BC ever over pay for mediocre talent? :cookie:

AR1815 10-01-2012 02:16 PM

I have a bad feeling about this, too... Does anyone know the earliest this could happen, if BC did decide to go through with the extension? Could we do it before the season started?

Would be great if we can sign him before he has his breakout year, but the chances of that happening are looking slimmer and slimmer. On the other hand, BC has much more insight into the situation, so maybe he's been watching DD make 100s of consecutive three pointers in practice.

anytime, now until the season starts october 31

Demar exudes the type of character that teams like Boston would gladly pay for and his talent level isn't far off any other 20-something 2 guard in the league.

pzabby 10-01-2012 02:43 PM

This could be very wise, with the added talent, there'll be less pressure on derozan to contribute offensively, so his game will flow better. as well, the less pressure means he can focus more on the defensive aspects of his game. if he does these two things, i.e become a better defender, and a more efficient scorer (even if his numbers drop), he'd be in for a good raise, probably closer to 10. better tie him down now, then have to match a high restricted FA offer. BC's a smart GM, have faith, were out of the babcock era
