I wouldn't leave comments on Landry Fields' contract until I actually see him playing for Raps.

If Fields steps up to MoPete type of guy, then it's reasonable contract

add Hedo to that, and based off last season id add Fields that list..

oh and that comment was sarcastic

oh right.. I totally forgot about the fact that we had Hedo couple seasons ago...

If DD doesn't step up and Ross isn't good enough as a starter, we should trade DD for any draft pick and throw some extra cash for Harden!!

His first 3 seasons:

49 FG%
47 FG%
43 FG%

I'm not the biggest Derozan fan by any stretch, but he's nowhere as bad as many here make him out to be, shit he's still only 23.

Less drives and more mid to long range jumpers....wouldn't jump the gun there that he's worse.

I can see DD getting somewhere in the 7-9 mil area. Best thing IMO is ride the year out and let the market determine his contract...

Love to see him get a mean streak and become tougher. Be older than his age. He's got a lot of time in the league already against great opponents--I hope he's ready.

Agreed. Also, usage % from his first 3 seasons:

18.1% USG
23.1% USG
25.0% USG

DeMar gets less efficient as he's relied on to do more. But this season, his USG% should drop -- and hopefully, his efficiency will rise.

To me this stat looks pretty good. Something he should be proud of and look to improve on.

When working out DD's efficiency, I would think you need to take a look at his shot selection;

2010 - shot selection - 46% dunks/in close, 53% jump shot (.399 eFG)
2011 - shot selection - 25% dunks/in close, 75% jump shot (.434 eFG)
2012 - shot selection - 23% dunks/in close, 77% jump shot (.400 eFG)

DD has always been about an excellent in close shooter/dunker but brutal mid to 3pt land. Regardless of his usg, DD is a .464 career eFG%, he just needs to stop shooting 3's - he's a career .206 IMO I think DD's efficiency didn't get worse from more touches, he just became a jump shooter - and a poor one at that. A SG should be able to shoot - same with the teams SF. Unless his mid to long range shot has suddenly improved and his defense is better, DD should be coming off the bench.

I still believe that DD should not be signed to anything till next summer and let the market dictate the price. DD will either shoot himself into a nice contract and hold onto his starter role or (and most likely imo) DD will get a decent contract for being a top back-up.

Nobody's going to give DeRozan 8 mil /yr. He will get 5.5 mil/year.

lol really? 5.5m a year?

We're not paying for what he is now, we're paying for what he will be. You want to lock up a long-term asset and prospect especially when he's only 23 years old. You don't let a young player like him go.

I'm agreeing with you. Amir makes more than 5.5Mil, no way is Derozan going to make less than Amir.

There is two ways to look at it, sign him now and pay 7-8Mil. Or if he comes into the season ready to roll and has his best season you may have to pay more next July. A bit of a risk that he raises his stock this season.
