I wouldn't say he's a goon. His skillset is a bit more than what we saw in Indiana. He had a nice back to the basket game in college, and a pretty good foul-line to mid-range jumper. Indiana had a use for him, and if he's the kind of guy that can come into a situation like that, and be asked to not do what he's been doing, and bang, agitate, and do what's needed to win, then I like him for that reason alone. Another thing that often goes overlooked by some of you "experts" is how a coach decides to use a player. Corliss Williamson came here in the doug christie trade, completely blew chunks, was traded to Detroit and proceeded to win sixth man of the year the following season.

I like Hansborough's motor, his desire to win at all costs. People saying he's a chump loved Reggie when he was here, and this guy is a younger, more athletic version of reggie, with a better FT%.

Forget this tough guy crap - the guy can't play. There's a difference between a tough defender like Tony Allen and a piece of garbage like Bruce Bowen; there's a difference between a tough inside presence like David West and a guy like Tyler Hansborough who hurts people.

Watching Haslem give him some of his own medicine was wonderful.

I think it's a good pick up,he's serviceable and will make the Raptors own players tougher in practice. If he develops a consistent open jumper he could be like what Oakley was during the Vince era or even a Garbajosa.

I'm guessing it'll be in the neighborhood of 3 years, 9 million with the 3rd year being a team option, this seems to be common thing now with steady role players this offseason getting 3-4 million with a team option in the last year of their deal, which would be good value for Tyler.

You guys hate him because he was another teams dirty player. Now he's our dirty player. We need toughness on this team. He gets under players skin, he fights for all loose balls and rebounds, and he's underrated offensively as he has a good midrange game and he is solid underneath the basket.

As long as it isnt over 3 years and isn't over 4 million, he'll be worth the contract.

Also who the hell is he going to start over? That's the whole reason behind his request for no QO.

If he starts over Amir, this team's fans should riot.

His style is way exaggerated in this thread, and I suspect it's mostly because people are thinking about the Valanciunas play.

He's physical, high energy, doesn't back down, his offensive game is mainly drawing fouls, and he's not athletically gifted so defensively there's a lot of fouling.
Add it all up, and you have a whole lot of contact, and a lot of annoyed people. But he's not out there trying to injure people all the time, like some posters have suggested in this thread.

Also consider this - how much would you hate him if he wasn't able to bring wins for his team? You might not think twice about him.

Jeff - I can't believe you suggested acquiring Dalembert and can't handle a guy that is not going to take a single possession off. C'mon. Sleep on it. It will look better in the morning. Dalembert would have been a nightmare.

you don't know what you're talking about. bowen, albeit dirty player, was one of the leagues best defenders for years. hansborough was a strong rotational player on one the best, if not the best defensive teams in the league.

What you quoted does not appear in this link. Who called him a goon? Some dude you pilfered from on realgm?

I just saw shit like this in the piece

Quote:
With West out because of a scratched cornea suffered in Monday's loss to Brooklyn, Hansbrough and Pendergraph were given time to issue rebuttals on Wednesday. Both stated their case nicely. Hansbrough started and finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds in 23 minutes, 25 seconds.

this is hardly a revelation. he's going to come in with the dial at 11 and he's going to hit people, and he's going to hit them hard. this team needs some of that, and has needed that for a long time.

That's some article from february that talks about how he wants to play. That's basically what every guy in the NBA says and should say.

But did he ask the Pacers not to extend the qualifying offer? That's the first time I hear about it.

He shouldn't start over Amir but is likely to see more minutes than in Ind. Amir is better than he used to be, but still a foul machine. Acy is slightly undersized and has limited experience. And Gray....wasn't he one of the tall monsters on Sesame Street??

Anyway, I'd definitely throw TH out there as fodder when they are playing players that have openly punked u in the past....Cousins, Bogut, etc.
