Fantastic Move by the Raptors:

You're looking at a player that most fans on other team like to hate. Its as old as sports itself this scenario and it ALWAYS works out well.

You`re getting a young, grounded, hard working and intelligent player that knows what he needs to do to stay in the NBA in a relevant role, and isnt afraid to do it every night, every play. Thats a professional.

So he mixed it up with JV last year, thats not even remotely relevant, and I can guarantee if whatever happened on that play truly bothered JV, well, than that means it was a pretty tough play by Hansborough, and JV will be thrilled to have a guy like that protecting his back in the coming two years.

Toronto has been soft for years. Fans hated Anrdea Bargnani for his lack of intensity and his soft character. The GM has come in, found a home for Bargnani and his 11 million, and replaced him with Tyler, at a quarter the cost, and likely 4 times the intensity, toughness, and character.

If anything this hurts the tanking process. Be happy, you got a great addition in that Room and on that floor. His mates will love him, and he will bring it, every night.

If fans aren`t happy about that then there is no hope for them as they will never be satisfied as long as The GM has work within the boundaries of reality.

I like the move, and was thinking also that this is another clue that we are not tanking.
The fact that people here can't stand him is totally irrelevant.

Such an odd reaction from many. I can not recall how many times fans and media would call out the Raptors begging for just one of the players to be aggressive in a physical manner. Or to have the balls to take on players like Kobe when they go off for 81pts, or KG when he gets on all 4's and barks at JC, Bosh getting bullied by the bitch Granger not once, not even twice, several, etc, etc, etc, etc. Tyler is that guy, the one every other team dislikes to play against, the guy that helps set a physical tone or counteracts the other teams physical tone. I don't think Tyler is a deliberately dirty player, he just plays hard, and hustles, and doesn't back down from anybody.

This team can use a player like TH, we've all wanted a TH type player.

from what I've seen, nobody complained about the move itself, it's just that so many people dislike him for some reason. It's probably related to the JV incident, because I never though of TH as a particularly nasty player - just another over-aggressive bench guy.

Can't wait to see how Jack deals with the situation in the broadcasts

I think the Pacers will be sorry to let him go. Copeland will help their shooting. On paper, it makes sense. But Hansbrough was a big piece of their identity.

Mehhh, I never thought so. In fact he barely played in the playoffs. His minutes went down with each series, averaging only 10mpg vs Miami.

That's because David West is a much better basketball player and a top 3 player on that team. Best players end up getting extended time in big games.

Hence why he wasn't a big piece of their identity

Their identity being "smashmouth basketball" - toughness, offensive rebounding - I think he was.

These tough energy guys often have impact that goes beyond their minutes on the court and into locker room and practice.

I think Hansbrough was very important in them forming that identity a few years ago. Hopefully they've grown enough to replace that energy and toughness from within.

----

Btw, on another note, I had a theory during the Hansbrough draft. The Pacers were rumored to be focused on Jrue Holiday back then, they worked him out and I was sure that was his floor. He seemed a typical Larry Bird pick (size+character). So I was really surprised after the Hansbrough pick. But they were such a soft team back then. If someone dislikes soft teams, that team was a nightmare. I guess Bird might have decided to pass on his guy and add someone who would add some toughness right away. Anyway, that's a theory, but it keeps popping back in my mind because Jrue has become a very good player.

Well......I was talking about the player and not the move itself, but I agree ' just another over-aggressive bench guy'.
