Fuck this guy! There are no place for goons in today's professional sports. Should have signed someone with basketball, not WWE skills.

Some articles on the Hansbrough brothers' story

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/18/sp...anted=all&_r=0

Quote:
Greg Hansbrough did not take it easy on his brothers, either. Tyler, who is now a forward with the Indiana Pacers, once asked Greg to stop beating him up because his teacher saw all the bruises and began asking if he was a victim of child abuse. Greg laughed and only punched harder. Ben got a double helping of abuse.

I don't think it was his decision. They have rescinded the offer to make room for West's new contract, or so it was speculated in the media.

My point is that, had Pacers not rescinded the offer, he would have stayed there.

You're right, he's a talented goon!

for the record i'm fine with signing and +1 you're comment, just saying, he is a goon.

But, I think at this point, this is a fantastic deal. He's still young, has some playoffs experience, knows the winning culture and will go to bat for his team if needed. This just may be one of the better free agent moves we've made in a long time. Contrary to apparent popular belief, Hansbourough is not on the same level as some junk like Huffman, Bateer, Lonny Baxter, Archibald, woods, Alabi, and the list goes on and on. I think a lot of people are going to be eating their words by the time the season is over. He makes us a better team defensively and has proved to be serviceable offensively on enough occasions to warrant consideration. Anyways, I like the signing. It's cheap and good value. Kapono and Fields not so much.
Great post. I hate the guy but yours was a well balanced post and I agree. Of course we all want great players who we love but how rare is that!? a good player who I don't like will have to do.

Are you by any chance a Luis Suarez fan? He's a similar specimen, dirty by nature but his talent can't be denied. Played a ton of games in Holland and always was kind of a love-him-or-hate-him kinda guy...

Now that he's a Raptor, I'll make the argument that he isn't a goon.

He delivers an abundance of hard fouls, but I've never seen him cross the line as far as making an unsafe intentional foul on somebody. I've never seen him intentionally undercut, or take somebody out from behind on a break away. No crotch-shots etc. No blind-side elbows etc.

He's just extremely physical. He plays the same way he played against his brothers growing up.

If he contributed more offensively his reputation wouldn't be as negative.

He had an offer in front of him. He didn't accept it. It's his decision.

He had not yet made a decision and the offer was rescinded. A little bit different.

Haha, i'm a liverpool fan! (Prob guessed by avatar.) i'm not a fan of suarez, haven't been for a while. he moaned way too much at team-mates, generally had a bad attitude and although an excellent player, sometimes frustrates me with his decision making. Having said that, until he actively said he wanted to leave I was happy for to be an lfc player. passionate, great work ethic and produces the goods. I can see myself having the same feelings about hansbrough.

By decision making, you mean his refusal to pass the damn ball?? :cookie:

And yes, it's pretty obvious you're a LFC fan.

Well whatever, semantics, he still lost 1.1+ mil, which was my original point.

i love the signing too. I can't wait to see him lay out some opposing players. Dirty or not, it will be nice having a player that will be doing the pushing instead of getting pushed. oh boo hoo he hit someone oh no. You know what drove me up the wall? Being the resident bitches of the NBA time after time especially when we had our caged wolf at the helm. Welcome Tyler.

And lkeet looks like we won't have to put up with the suarez antics that much longer. I'll miss the 20 goals, but i won't miss him.

He's dirty, but he's only been charged with one flagrant foul in his entire NBA career?

Yeah, i keep forgetting there's loads of football fans on here.

yes, exactly, his refusal to pass! except he gets a lot of assists!? he really is a contradiction of a player. he could get over 20 assists a season as well as the goals. He tries to do way too much with his dribbling and scoring. if he had better decision making he would be right up there with ronaldo and messi imo. anyway, back to bball!......

dirtiness doesn't always get noticed by nba referreeing. I'm not saying he's dirty, but he certainly has a reputation of being physically agressive. not that i have a problem with it.

Honestly, I'm shocked he's only ever been charged with one.

Also, the league is always watching and can assess them after the fact.
