to me he iss what we need more. i would prefer an ivan johnson to him, but at least he is an hustler whom defend.
we had Reggie and he didn't produce on Offense, and that didn't make him a bad player because of all he did (and still does).
if casey can really define is role, then he could be not a great but a solid addition big.

You should update the title since the numbers seem to be out. According to Holly Mackenzie, it's 2 years, 6 million, with the 2nd year being a team option, so if he's as bad as everyone thinks, he'll only be here for a year anyway!

Horrible signing!!!!

I don't remember the last time a talentless goon averaged 20ppg in 4 season of ACC ball, led his team to a national title and received every major player of the year award. He must know how to do something right.

If he was in any demand we wouldn't have signed him. Good job on the term more then anything. 3mil is about market value.

Zach Lowe ‏@ZachLowe_NBA 4m
My proprietary analytics show TOR is 17 percent less watchable with Hansbrough, with wiggle room in either direction depending on minutes.

I absolutely love this signing. I know the hate stems from him being considered a hack and brutal and I hated watching him vs the Raps, as he was a bit of a time bomb. But, I think at this point, this is a fantastic deal. He's still young, has some playoffs experience, knows the winning culture and will go to bat for his team if needed. This just may be one of the better free agent moves we've made in a long time. Contrary to apparent popular belief, Hansbourough is not on the same level as some junk like Huffman, Bateer, Lonny Baxter, Archibald, woods, Alabi, and the list goes on and on. I think a lot of people are going to be eating their words by the time the season is over. He makes us a better team defensively and has proved to be serviceable offensively on enough occasions to warrant consideration. Anyways, I like the signing. It's cheap and good value. Kapono and Fields not so much.

The contract numbers are fine, the second year being TO is great, and I can even see, intellectually, the value of a player like TH. My problem is with his style of play, that being dirty as fuck, but I guess by signing him, Raps have at least guaranteed he won't hurt our own players, unless he is just as dirty in practices.

So you'd rather based your opinion on his 4 years of college, or his 4 years of NBA? Lots of successful college guys don't make it in the league. It's one thing to overpower skinny college guys vs grown men in the majors.

I'd be thrilled if he shows us a different side, but what I've seen from him so far suggests otherwise. Which is fine to me, at his salary, he's plenty good. More useful than gray who's in the same neighborhood.

3 mil + team option? Hansbrough might want to change agents. He basically passed on 4.1 mil / 1 year QO from the Pacers to get 3 mil from the Raptors.

Which would be somewhat reasonable if there was player option for the 2nd year.

Indiana is quite packed in front court, there are no minutes for him there.
Although here its not much better.

I don't believe that QO has actually been extended to him, so, technically, he was an UFA.

Even better, he can wrestle Val during practice, make him even tougher! :cookie:

It was. He didn't take it. Then they started talking to Copeland and took back the Hansbrough offer.

Hate him as a player on an opposing team - he's a dirty fucker. But having him on the Raptors.... He could be of some benefit to our culture and toughness. When's the last time we had a guy like that? Oakley?

So far Masai is batting 1.000 when it comes to contracts. I bet Colangelo would've given Ben Hansbrough $3m/year!! At least we signed the right brother.

Even if you don't like Hansbrough, 1 year guaranteed at $3m is pretty good for a rotation player.

Let's just hope he doesn't injure anyone on our team in practise!
