what's with this collective amnesia, sure BC drafted bargnani, but he also brought in guys like Garbajosa, Rasho, JO, Reggie Evans, Brezec, Jack and many others who were pretty tough themselves.

In fact, you can think of TH as a younger, more skilled version of Brezec.

If we're tanking, he's a great guy to have so your team doesn't get thrown around even if you stink, that would be bad for morale. If we're not tanking, TH would be your 10-12th guy, like he was in Indiana. A bit player to bring in when you need some toughness. At 2.5, that's a very good price.

At least this is a short deal. Hopefully the second year is a TO.

Also, we're over the tax now too so I read. Someone is getting moved soon.
not necessarily, you only need to slide under the tax at the end of the season. You can easily trade someone like gray for example at the deadline. at that point he has 1.2 million or so left to be paid, so you just ship him to a team along with 1.2 in cash to pay his salary.

Mark Stein's twitter.
Was there some report that Hansbrough is asking to let him go?

The Pacers rescinded him when they agreed on a deal with West, Hansbrough's qualifying offer was way too expensive.

Where are you getting that idea from? And what goon can score 30?

Well he's pretty decent big off the bench. Brings in toughness, brings in the grit and grind, WHICH IS what Casey's system is... for the one who like to pretend they're oblivious to what people mean when they say 'Casey's system'.
Hate him with a passion, but when he starts to knock off players, you'll be all happy we're winning cause he just threw down the guy you hate. :cookie:
Works pretty well with the identity stuff - Looks like 'Defense first' is going to be the aim this season like 2 years ago.(which it wasn't last season, at least for most parts or the 4-19 part).
Want to be like the pacers? Sign pacer players! :cookie:
Again, good signing. But yea, we all hate him.

um, so if I want this team to tank, that makes me obsessed? That's a strange statement ...

As constructed right now, our bench consists of Stone, Hansbrough, Gray, Fields and Ross. Call me obsessed, but this just might be the worst bench in the league now that Portland upgraded theirs.

I know he's not the most skilled player but Hansbrough brings alot of toughness and intangibles that the Raptors need. As long as the contract is reasonable what's the problem or risk? It's not like there's a line up of quality and star players outside of Ujiri's office waiting to sign in Toronto…lighten up Raps nation :jack:

This tank stuff is just really getting annoying now. This just says win to me, no where do I see 'tank'. It's a good bench guy, who goes with the INDY philosophy (HE'S FROM THERE) we're trying to emulate. Honestly this is what I believe BC and Casey wanted(cause I recall them talking about being like the pacers) and since Masai did this, I'm sure he's on board with the INDY like structure...
P.S. INDY DIDN'T REQUIRE A TANK. Derozan also been talking about trying to emulate pacers as well? Forgot, but it was a team which played against Heat, and it wasn't bucks or spurs... Wouldn't be surprised if he comes in better defensively with all this 'philosophy' talk going on this offseason, and it being pointed to Defense first/INDY philosophy.

You are right, they didn't require a tank, they just needed 7 years of mediocrity to build their team (between 2004 and 2012 they won between 35 and 44 games and finished 9th no fewer than 4 consecutive seasons). And let's face it, they got really lucky with hibbert and george, two late picks who became (or will become all stars).

Is this what you want for us? I'd much rather to what Seattle did, tank hard for 2 years and emerged as the best team in the west after that. Especially when you get a chance like this year, where, with a bit of luck, we may only need to tank a single year.

They got lucky with Hibbert and George. It had nothing to do with seeing something in them and constructing a team within which they could excel. And OKC didn't have any luck involved.
