Good signing. 1 year, vet min, big C who can take some minutes on those back-to-backs. Bruising C, exactly the sort of guy needed around here. Bonus points for the whole Canadian thing. If he gets any meaningful minutes, operation tank will be way ahead of schedule. Only good things.

I don't like it at all... yeah, we've a natural C now, but I don't think he's a right choice even if's just to wait for Valanciunas. Surely it's not good enough.

To make the roster more competitive. I hope they'll get another C or, at least, a good defensive player.

And why would we need to get them more competitive?

They've said all the right things at the presser and now they are following it up with the right moves.

without breaking the bank to add a huge free agent signing, we're just not going to be competitive this year anyways. adding a mid-tier guy for a big chunk of cap space isn't really going to be significant, except that it hinders the ability to build something next year when the real chances become apparent.

i dunno, i'd rather see a vision towards building something long-term rather than quick fixes that don't make any real change. an extra 3 or 4 wins this year isn't worth it it if it means we can't go for major change next year.

I don't see why people make such a big deal about it, its a garbage bench C for a garbage team in a year were going to be garbage.

Well, if you think this, yo're right too. I just hope changes will arrive next year.

Everything is about 2012-13. This year is about our youth and their growth and hopefully improving on the defensive end. Hopefull Magloire comes in extra motivated and contributes when on the floor. He's little more than a stop gap.

It's a terrible choice for starter. They would have rather spend this money to buyout JV's contract.

Do you know anything about buyouts? Like, for instance, that the team is only allowed to contribute limited amount (something like 500K)? Or that Jonas' is around 4 mil?

Considering that Magloire won't be starting, those were not the best two sentences ever posted.

I guess we are going for a high draft pick. Magloire looked absolutely terrible in Miami. So let's get Brian Scalabrine, Jason or Jarron Collins, and Adam Morrison to fill out the rest of the roster. Anthony Davis or Harrison Barnes, Welcome to Toronto!!!!

Would have liked to have grabbed that OTHER Canadian big man from MIA (yeah right!) but I guess this isn't a bad stop-gap for now.

I just hope that Mags has SOMETHING left and won't be a complete liability on the floor.

We can only spend 500k towards the buyout, if the buyout is a lot higher, maybe it's JV that doesn't want to buy out and play a year for free???

I dont see whats the fuss with all this. Its not like he is here for long term. Just here as a filler and signed with vet min. Its a huge publicity stint too hopefully having fans going to the game to see their own Scarborough player playing on the raps. Plus you guys telling me youll want to over pay for Chandler and Nene, and maybe even Gasol + Jordan 4 players we most likely dont even have a chance at getting?

If it was more than 1 year Ill be iffy
