Raps SG and SF really bad

anthony parker, jason kapano and jamario moon what they all have in common is they don't get to the free throw line and none off them can create there own shot we are desprate need for a SG of SF that can create his own shot and drive to the basket. thats what we need in order to be a serious contender

Nachbar is Kapono but slightly better athleticism and worse shooting abilities. Pass.

i'm honestly not too concerned with our wing positions.

i think moon is going to have huge improvements this up-coming season. as much as his jumper sucked last season, it improved throughout the course of the season. i wouldn't be surprised if he spent a lot of time working on his handles, especially knowing the space he'll have to work with both Bosh and o'neal on the floor together. he's got work ethic knowing that his ticket might expire if he doesn't show he can get it done.

as for parker and kapono, we know what we're going to get from them. it'd be nice to up-grade, but it isn't a dire need that will make or break our club. our biggest worries are point guard, and i don't want us to touch the wing position without solving who will be spelling Calderon first. there isn't any players at the 2/3 who are up-grades over our players anyways. pietrus isn't better than parker, younger, but he's not a long term solution either.

Does anybody know how much we really have to spend on free agency. I heard Doug Smith on the Fan this week say they had a MLE of 5.7 million and depending on the cap they're looking at around 2 million on top of that.Is he right? And if Delfino doesn't come back how much more does that give us?

So according to him the Raps have about 6.5-7Million to try and get a back up PG,another wing player that can score/get to the rim.Not enough for both IMO, so i wonder how Colangelo will do it unless there is some kind of trade or if Ukic is brought in cheap to be the back up PG.

it depends on the cap. we have the mle which is under 6 and the vets min. which is around 2.

if we could grab damon for the vets.min i'd be cool with it. he already said that he would like to play here again, and now we have minutes for him.

So basically 8 million dollars. Something may be able to get done but it'll be tight unless they go real cheap at the back up PG!I would like Duhon (FA) but he already made 3.2 million last season and will look for more so i don't think thats viable.

personally, we need our wing to step up their shooting %, they will get a lot of open looks. might wanna upgrade SG.

I would argue Duhon should get a pay cut. He's been less than impressive since inking that deal. But, obviously, that's not up to me.

Personally, I like Azubuike.

IMO Moon needs to stop taking so many threes and go to the rim.If he does he can probably average 12PPG and he'd certainly improve his shooting percentage. He's the fourth or fifth option on the floor and that won't change unless he changes his mindset.

I agree, a back up shouldn't get over 3 million dollars but as a FA he may get offers of 4 million from teams that have the monet and are desperate for a PG,maybe Miami?

i could see the oneal trade helping all of the raps swingmen substantially

on offense, AP and kapono are great shooters, a perfect compliment to JOs back-2-the-basket game; moon should improve alot anyway but oneal should mean lots of open looks (good if he improves his shooting) and good picks to attack the rim (good if he improves his ballhandling and aggressiveness)

on defense, oneal and Bosh should provide some of the best shotblocking and help defense in the league (that alone makes the perimeter players much, much better defensively); moon should improve the most in this area as he grows more familiar with the tendencies of the competition and continues to learn good defensive habits; kapono struggled last year because his poor defense kept him out of games, this year he should be a much bigger factor as his deficiency in this area will be covered up somewhat by the addition of oneal

we definitely will need an upgrade to compete for a championship, but our best players havent peaked yet (besides oneal) and if we show real improvement over the next 2 seasons that should be enough to entice a really good wing to sign here (when oneals $20+mill is off the books); either that or we trade his expiring contract next season to get the wing we need

+1 on the Azubiuke. Love the kid's game.

The only thing you can hope for Duhon is that he takes a paycut to come here because he likes Toronto, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

I think nabbing Roger Mason Jr. might be a place to start. He should definitely be affordable and he likes Toronto. And he can play the 1 and 2.

Agreed Roger Mason Jr makes alot of sense, bring him in, with Ukic, if Roko struggles you've got a back up PG, who can play 2 when needed

Azuibuike would be my preference tho, hit a few clutch shots last season, great athlete, and i think he has a higher ceiling than he showed...him or JR Smith make sense, although Smith's off-court problems may be too much to look past, not to mention im sure there will be more interest on him than Azuikuike

nachbar is like Bargnani so i wouldn't take him because if Bargnani doesnt improve then we have 2 of the same trash players.
