Exclamation Raps interested in Gomes

Quote:
Ryan Gomes.

Like him?

Not sure how many of you have been following whatís going on with him but the serviceable backup (who I quite like as a player, by the by) was traded from Minnesota to Portland and will either be traded or waived by 3 p.m. Tuesday to save the Blazers some money because his contract is not fully guaranteed if heís released by that time.

I will tell you this: I know from league sources that the Raptors have made a call to see if thereís a trade fit and while itís doubtful that gets done (itís in Portlandís best interest, really, to waive him) I know Toronto will see if it can get something done with him in free agency.

Gomes is a great defender on the perimeter and also in the paint. From what I know of he is a really underrated scorer as well and can go off for 20 points on any given night.

I wouldn't mind him for like a 3-4 mil contract. He is a solid player

I guess this means Brewer isn't on the radar anymore

I'd say they're both a wash anyways

Brewer has better tools but he's an idiot, Gomes is a smarter player but not as athletic

Based on what I've read, T'Wolves fans love his tools and potential but he makes awful decisions on the regular and will space out for portions of games.

If we get him and Turk stays for the first time we have two legit SF... past 4 years we always used PF or SG as SF

I used to like Gomes. Not sure how he is right now. He could be wasted and done.

I'm high on Gomes... always have been.
heres a kid who's 27, puts up 12ppg, 5 rebs, shoots 45%, hits 3's, and plays D.
he would be a great fit here... and would make wright expendable.
do it BC!

Are you serious? Why would we trade Jack, let's convince them to take Jose and his horrendous contract. Fucking waste of a player

oh because you want Jack, they must be willing to take raptors' junk? not saying jose is garbage, but your comment suggests GM's around the league are like kids trading playing cards.

Creepy

And I think it was Hoops who said that Gomes is like Jared Dudley and I'd agree. Again, it'd be another signing in the right direction (toughness, rebounding).

he'd be the eric williams we never received. i like him. i don't know how we'd be getting him though. we'd have to give up legit talent since the blazers can just drop his contract and i'm not down with using the majority of the MLE on him.

I think if they waive Gomes now, they wouldn't be on the hook for his salary next season. If they take Banks or Evans, they're on for their salary for the year. So, Portland is going to need something of value for Gomes to give him up or else it's just in their best interest to cut him loose.
