Maybe the whole RF crew should go hit a Jays game... might be nice to watch a winning team

For years now. I just don't know how great a baseball market this city is anymore. Unless there are changes to the playoff format or they star contending fans will stay away. The ticket prices are reasonable imo and it's only real competition in the summer is FC so they should be doing better.

i think it's a great baseball market. plenty of people love their blue jays.

however....

decade+ of non-contention
lousy ballpark
ridiculous concession prices

why would you expect attendance to be anything other than crap?

I love baseball and my family loves baseball. But most people I know find it boring and I find this day and age the younger demographics prefer more action and have a short attention span and would rather play video games. Practically everyone I talk to in this city, if I bring up the Jays they say how boring they find it. I still think there are a lot of Jays fans don't get me wrong, but among younger people it seems to have dwindled.

i love baseball too and i'm as big a blue jays fan as i am a Raptors fan. you really have to understand the game to enjoy it. i used to play baseball competitively and now play on a beer league softball team for the summer. most of my friends dog me for liking baseball and the ones that do play, some don't like watching it.
unfortunately i'm on the westcoast in vancouver so i can't support the jays, but i do drive down to seattle at least once a year to catch the mariners
you people in the tdot don't know how lucky you are!

I've been a Jays fan since the old Carlos Delgado, Billy Koch, Shawn Green, Darren Fletcher, Jose Cruz, Roy, Kelvim Escobar, Tony Batista, Vernon Wells, Alex Gonzalez, etc. Pretty much 1998 and on is when I first started. I got hooked on playing baseball before ever playing basketball even when I watched basketball before baseball. Baseball is a fun sport to play, get like 20 friends to play it and its a blast.

Personally, Toronto has the atmosphere. We won titles here and have a good team moving forward. And I like the skydome, brings so much memories back. But yeah, when the dome is open its nice to be in the dome (Unless its really sunny and the sun is burning the hell out of you). And its in a good location I think.

If the Jays keep winning, their attendance should be good later in the season.

For now, our fans are cautious and rightfully so. We've been in Boston and New York's shadow for a looooong time now.

I know next to nothing about creating atmosphere at a baseball game, but I'm inclined to agree. I remember being in Toronto for a family wedding during May of 1993. My parents took me to a game at the SkyDome. It was nuts. There were parties going on in the stands. That's all my parents talked about after the game. "Half the people were there to party with friends and sing!"

Oh, and the Leafs were going deep in the playoffs at the same time. If there was ever a time to lose fans to another sport, it was then, yet the Dome was almost packed.

Almost the same color, but different team. Gorman Thomas played for the Brewers in "1981 or earlier". I am a big Big Brewers fan, that team was stacked: Gorman Thomas, a young Paul Molitor, Cecil Cooper, Robin Yount, Ted Simmons, Rollie Fingers.

well I was at the X when a big fat buck martinez threw the ball down to a rookie manny lee at 3rd base after a strikeout and manny must have been making kissy faces to one of his teeny bopper admirers over the dugout, cuz the ball hit him square in the gut and i laughed my ass off.

must be a slow day in Raptors news for there to be an attendance thread on a single game.
