Sources told ESPN.com that the Mavericks secured permission from Toronto last week to speak to Stojakovic's agent, David Bauman, to see if the former All-Star sharpshooter would have interest in playing in Dallas after his eventual buyout, which had been anticipated since November when Raptors president Bryan Colangelo immediately raised the possibility of letting Stojakovic go after acquiring him from New Orleans in a Nov. 20 deal that landed Jarrett Jack and Marcus Banks with New Orleans.

"We were clear from the beginning that our trade with New Orleans was made with the future in mind, so a buyout or trade of Peja's contract was a likely option," Colangelo said Thursday in a statement. "Although he did not fit into our plan of developing our young core talent, I'm sure that Peja will add significantly to any veteran team that signs him."

The Mavericks have been shopping Ajinca almost from the moment he arrived last summer as a throw-in to make the salary-cap math work in Dallas' deal with Charlotte for center Tyson Chandler. Although the Mavs like Ajinca's shooting touch for a big man, they have three centers ahead of him -- Chandler, Brendan Haywood and Ian Mahinmi -- and had promised Ajinca's agent (Dallas-based Bouna Ndiaye) months ago that they would try to find a new home for him. The Raptors, sources said, have been tracking Ajinca for some time.

i think it's more a deal about peja buy out for ajinca + 2nd rd 2013.
it's still not so bad, but can BC bring Mahimmi instead of ajinca, because mahimmi remains more highs this year than him.

at least i will be just happy with this because ajinca is french... but ajinca is still young also and can become more productive with us and with some minutes.
especially if Bargs can't play much.
that give us at least some size.
but i think erie can be glad they can add ajinca and alabi to their roster.

He MAY be nothing now, but then again, let's try and practice some patients here...BC said Andrea would take 5 years to develop (and maybe now's not the right time to say this, with all of the 'Drea hate in the last GDT), and he's done really well this year.

BC is accumulating assets, and there will always be takers for a low-salary big man...ALWAYS. Even as a throw in to a bigger trade to match salaries.
