Ranking the Eastern Conference SG's

Too bad he isn't our starting SG. :haha:

Quote:

14. Antoine Wright, Toronto 11.0 PTS, 1.8 AST, 3.2 REB, .501 TS%, 8.6 PER
Repeat after me: DeMar DeRozan almost certainly won't be the starter at the beginning of the season and he may not win the starting role all season. Besides, it would be futile to put him in these rankings because we have no clue how raw he's going to be entering the pros after just one college season. Anyway, Wright has a reputation as a pretty good perimeter defender, but I'll admit that I'm mostly taking Bryan Colangelo's word on this. Needless to say, he's a placeholder until DeRozan shows he's ready for primetime.

Wright is too high :haha: : (

Even though he's not starting, I expect Jack to be our main SG anyways, he's by far our best option there. Wright will play the first 5 minutes of each half and then Jack will come in and take the lionshare of SG minutes... like what Dallas did with Wright and Jason Terry, because Terry couldn't start the game if he was going to be the backup PG, he needed to come in 5 minutes in so he could relieve Kidd near the end of the 1st and keep playing till he came back

I would give Jack 22 at SG and split the rest between Wright and Bellinelli (whenever Jose goes off we roll with Jack/Belli... Jose/Wright start the halfs... then the rest is Jose/Jack)

Calderon/Jack/Turk/Bosh/Bargnani is actually an impressive offensive SL. Bosh definitely has help this year with Jack and Turk both as creators to relieve pressure off him. No excuses now

I agree with you..With the amount of talent present on the team..its hard for a rookie to be a starter..wright or beli..or jack..might get the starting job...

If that's the case, it's either Belinelli or Jack. Because no way is Wright starting at SG. He's going to come off the bench behind Turkoglu and then in certain situations he'll play some SG. The SG rotation will mostly consist of Beli/Derozan/Jack imo.

Mind you, Jack starting makes no sense when he'll be expected to play 18-20MPG at PG. Therefore him and Jose start the game and then Jack replaces Jose? Makes no sense.

Jack will not be our main SG. Period. Jack is not a creative scorer, though he can score. He is undersized, and I would only have him really out on the court with Jose at the end of games. Wright will eat up minutes at the SG position, with DeRozan and Belinelli playing respectibally behind Wright and Turk. Do you even remember that we have DeRozan, because he;s out of your game plan. Are you really here as sam mitchell?????

We have so many weapons. I'm excited :yeah:

I think Derozan makes most sense at SF as a guy who runs the break and cleans up buckets. He has no guard skills. In college he played more like RJ

i think anthony parker is slept on. he should still be here like passion flakies on a tuesday

Please, we upgraded. I've never seen a guy so overvalued.

If he could it would be ideal. But at under 6'6 i highly doubt it. but it would allow Wright to start @ SG with Belinelli coming off the bench. I just don't seen Derozan starting the season @ SF, i'd be surprised.

Or they could start a line up of -

Jose
Wright
Turk
Bosh
Bargnani

After that sub in Belinelli or DeRozan for Wright of Turk. Then your line-up would look like -

Jose
Belinelli
Wright/Turk
PF
C

Then afterwards bring Wright in off the bench for Turk, or close out quarters with Belinelli and DeRozan on the court when the opposing team has there backup SF's on. Regardless, if Triano utilizes a good rotation, then he will make it work.

Ummm....can someone show me a line from one of the coaches that says Wright will not be starting? He's the most logical answer at the 2.

Of course, logic sometimes doesn't work here but one can hope.

I heard Triano say that he wants to start Demar though I doubt it will happen.

Because out of all our 7 SG's, he's the only one that can play SF behind Turkoglu, which he will imo. I'd be shocked if he started @ SG except for maybe a few spot starts here and there or due to to a slue of injuries. He's by far not the most logoical choice @ SG given the SF situation.

:sigh:

But of course, Belinelli, who would be more valuable as the sixth man as an instant scorer type of player, should be starting where he'd be the fifth option.

Sounds like a plan to me!

Positions can change, Wright when subbed out can rest 2-3 mins. and then relieve Turk after. It's all about management. This isn't a videogame.

The way Coloangelo talked up Demar & Belinelli, and basically said Wright has had an inconsistent career to date. Plus what Triano has said, i can't see Wright starting, at least to start the season.

It seems obvious that They want to develop Derozan and play him and Belinelli quite a bit @SG, plus i'm sure Jack will see some minutes.

I don't get how some here assume Wright will start when not one person in the organization has said anything about him @SG, let alone starting at that position.

With all of Bryan Colangelo's ridiculous trades, it might as well be!

I never once said Belinelli in the post you responded to.
