Race to the Decision. Part 1

Alright, I did this last year and I think people liked the thread because there was a good amount of activity in it. So since we know Masai will make his decision on whether to tank or shoot for the playoffs in 45ish days. I decided to make a part one of our upcoming games, and our overall standing. This will run till Dec 15, where teams can then begin to trade everyone. So here it is

5. Detroit 11-13
6. Charlotte 9-14
7. Raptors 9-13
8. Chicago 9-13
9. Washington 9-13

by dec 1 if the raptors are serious about being a playoff team they have to be .500 and their schedule isn't as tough as originally thought, they have the talent to hit .500 if not then it is time to tank

I'm on team tank I don't think they'll go .500 in that first month which last year proved to sink our season last year

Ball Don't Lie 10-30-2013 04:14 PM

Wow, looking at the schedule again, we're going to get slaughtered the first month and a bit.

BigMan93 10-30-2013 04:20 PM

if we somehow beat Miami maybe we ride the wave to a 5+ game winning streak? :cloud9b:

I still have a bookmark to someone saying the worst we could possibly do is .500 :haha:

I will cheer for the playoffs, until we shit the bed. Lets go for that 5-6th seed

jeffb 10-30-2013 05:11 PM

Go with the flow. Right now I want to make the playoffs, but if we really suck by mid-late December then go ahead and make changes.

fantapoppa 10-30-2013 05:30 PM

If the potential of this team is 8th seed, might as well blow it up.
our schedule isn't easy first 22 games, so they will have to out perform expectations if they don't want the team blown up.
41-41 record is not good enough for a team that sets a goal like contending for a championship.

I hope they play above all expectations and head into the playoffs with 47+ wins and 4-6th seed.
Lets see what happens

IMO, it's easier than last season. I truly think we could get 10-13 wins in that stretch.

Shadowfax 10-30-2013 05:50 PM

^ 9 wins/13 losses

LOG 10-30-2013 06:07 PM

Go with the flow, but I have my tank ready

box92 10-30-2013 06:47 PM

I had a feeling this board is completly split. I Think when our first 22 games are done, most of the forum will be on one side or the other. Unless we are 11-11 lol

Don Vito 10-30-2013 09:56 PM

If we are below .500 then just blow it up. Tired of the team being middle of the pack every year. Either be a serious playoff contender or tank for a high draft pick.

I aM READY FOR A TANK, FUCK THIS PLAYOFF NONSENSE. I didnt realize caps was on my bad,:mattyd:

I have a big problem with the way pro sports in north america are being run. First off when it comes to debating whether to tank or not... it's unfair to the actual players on said team to go out there and play for a high draft pick. I want these guys to try to win every game and go for it as far as they can. Guys like Amir Johnson, Derozan have slugged it out here on shitty teams for so long and i think they deserve the chance to actually obtain some success.

I really think the system is flawed when you have teams trying to lose. I don't have a better idea of how drafting should work, but when every year now it's like a dark cloud that follows a lot of teams.

You know what's great about soccer (and i don't mean MLS): there's no draft, and if your team is the worst you don't get rewarded... You get kicked out the the league!
I'd like to see some more urgency in north american sports where every team is trying its harderst.

I wish the draft lottery was held live, was random and your record didn't dictate your chances at #1.

Drop 30 numbered ping pong balls one by one in the machine (no team team gets more then any other) then draw them one by one starting from #30. Now it would suck if contenders get the #1 pick but that's the chance you take imo. Would be a lot more interesting and more fair. It would end the stupid tank talks on forums like this.

It would allow us to try and make the playoffs this seaon and still get a top prospect in the draft. Being a 7-8 seed wouldn't be look at as a waste anymore.

i really think the system they use now is not good. While your suggestion is a bit extreme, it gives me an idea:

every team that doesn't make the playoffs has an equal chance of winning the lottery. 16 ping pong balls. After that the playoff teams get sorted based on the standings (reverse order).
