15-20 = maybe, maybe a starter
Funny you bring that up because I think it's actually true.
Boston and Philly have only just started the tank. They will get their high draft pick but it's highly unlikely they will be competitive from the get go (even superrookies like Shaq and Lebron barely got or didn't get their talentstarved teams to the playoffs).

The Knicks and Nets wil be largely the same as they are now, only a year older. Big chance the Nets will start the tank if this core can't perform.

Next years Atlantic Div doesn't look so frightening to me.

And yes, there will be trades and injuries. But that goes for every team in the league, not just for us (with DRose being the latest example)

So even if that does happen the raps will be kings of s**t basically. How does that serve when facing quality teams in the playoffs? Anywho the similarities between 06-07 and arguably 07-08 are scary. Also, never underestimate what can go down in trades

Chicago has survived DRose being out. Nothing new to them. With him they can be contenders but without him they're a very good playoff team (lowest seeding being 6th). Now, let's see how the raps would fare without KL -

Also, Nets and Knicks can't start a tank so they will be gunning for playoffs no matter what. (Ie. NYK it seems won't have picks for a while and Brooklyn to a lesser degree too).

In the summer of 07 Boston had come off a horrible season but with their picks + deals they were rewarded with a championship squad. But hey - the Raps had internal growth right?

They just lost 3 in a row.

If this is them gunning for the playoffs I'm not scared lol. They're both screwed. Injuries happen to every team but some teams just carry more injuryprone players on their roster, and the Nets and Knicks have a lot of them.

The Celtics went through several years of surpreme suckage (Gerald Green, Delonte West etc.) before trading their youngsters for the Big Three. A good tankjob takes more than 1 or 2 years, and I don't see the current Celtics and Sixers become relevant anytime soon.

Basically the entire Atl. Div. is toast, Raps included.

3 in a row :eyeroll: clearly you haven't been seeing what Chicago has done the last few seasons - without Rose.

Um perhaps you don't understand how s**t the raps will be without KL. Brooklyn is playing without DWILL, AK47 and Brook. Also, let's see how the raps would play without KL, JV and RG There's no chance that a healthy Brooklyn will be better than the raps 76ers .400 atm and raps are .462. Man it's just such a world of difference. How will a barely .500 ballclub fare in the playoffs? The correct remedy to everything is extending DC, extending KL to 8-10/year, extending RG to 12/year after his PO, extending Amir to 7-8 for 2 years after his last non-guaranteed deal. This team can surely be a contender playing in a weak division, with other teams having really no shot of getting better. These 13 games have shown how great this squad is. No need to break any of it up. No flaws with the play, team or players. Making the playoffs is the only thing that matters. Even if you just get 8th seed - that's cool too, getting slaughtered by the Heat or Indy. Cuz you made the playoffs. Never mind that teams just at your talent level will get reinforced by starters, and some by franchise players in the draft, while you got that sweet taste of decimation in your mouth. Also, this squad would be 2nd last in the West atm - just more of a reason why this squad needs to be kept.

Well, it was nice to see that someone (LX) thinks the same way as I do about these constant tank rants so I had to give him a shoutout.

Look man, it's not even about you or me being right, because for the most part I agree with you, it's just that you seem to post rants on cruise control these days and it gets really tiring. They even pop up in places were tanking wasn't even being discussed.

I was only stating that the Atlantic Div. was toast (Raps included) so I was actually agreeing with you, yet again you react with a freaking avalanche of complaints regarding everything there is to complain about our franchise and I'm like: "wow dude chill, why all the frustrations? Honestly you seem a little tensed, and I hope you don't approach life as a whole with this kind of negativity.

Like I've stated many times, I choose to live in the here and now (regarding the Raps) and if that makes me naive, so be it. It makes following our franchise a whole lot more pleasant. We won the last 2 games and played some solid ball. I even enjoyed it. Let Ujiri worry about what kind of salary player X makes, I don't give a damn! Maybe you should take some time away from the Raps.

I think I'll hang on to my rose-coloured glasses for a little while.
I'm done with the tank vs anti tank discussion anyway. And not because I can't win an argument. It's because there is no right answer.

Fair enough.

Boards are places to discuss things, are they not?

We are masochists as raps fans so you can understand the posts. We enjoy receiving pain.

People often confuse negativity with realism and objectivity.

what's objective about insisting that only bad things can happen here? Nobody doubts that bad things could happen. We've all lived through it enough. But that doesn't preclude some luck, and some good management, and ownership that operates from a very different position, from steering things in a very different direction for once. And when there is some evidence of that happening it's even less objective to insist that somehow that evidence is just putting us behind the 8 ball.

The O6-O7 season has been referenced here as the cautionary tale, as though history is surely repeating. Bullshit. That's not the least bit realistic or objective. That's just wanting to be negative. Very different situation. A lot could have been made of the team from that point. Ownership and management settled for less, and there was a lot of bad luck. I don't see that happening again. Not at this point anyway. It could happen - and I would have no problem with that being suggested. Instead I see a lot of crap about anything else happening being unlikely, extremely unlikely, or simply not happening. And I call bullshit.

Sorry for the late update, the standings are a bit weird because the titanic division is so bad. But here it is

Standings:
5. Chicago 6-6
6. Charlotte 7-7
4. Raptors 6-7
7. Philadelphia 6-9
8. Detroit 5-8

Upcoming Games:
Nov. 26 Toronto vs. Brooklyn

People aren't being negative, they are being realistic. This Eastern conference is actually far worse than the 06-07 season, and that is saying something. This team is not good, we know that. They don't have a top 20 player, they have a bad coach, and the only guy who isn't in his prime is Jonas Valanciunas (who has been underwhelming in light of Casey's treatment of him).

Continue to believe in dignity and "staying positive" like some preschool teacher. The NBA is a BUSINESS. Right now the Raptors are playing the game of a perennial loser, the game they have played since Carter missed that shot in 2001.

But keep believing in positive thinking. Keep thinking that it elevates you somehow as a fan compared to the realists here. It doesn't, and all your attitude does is enable the inept management of this organization to keep shoveling shit down the throats of the fans of this city.

When the Raptors are staring at a mid-1st round pick, a 1st round playoff exit, and another decade of mediocrity then you can take that moment to be proud of yourself. It must take incredible courage to be so dignified in the face of us naysayers.

I am so torn with this team, I want a good pick because this draft is just amazing, but I also want to go to the playoffs because we could have a chance to get to the second round.

But after this season, is the second round and beyond going to be a norm? Or is it going to be for a couple seasons.
