Now it would suck if contenders get the #1 pick but that's the chance you take imo. Would be a lot more interesting and more fair. It would end the stupid tank talks on forums like this.

It would allow us to try and make the playoffs this seaon and still get a top prospect in the draft. Being a 7-8 seed wouldn't be look at as a waste anymore.
Lol. Imagine Lakers drafting LeBron James back in 2003. Bryant, James, O'Neal.
By the way, I would go for tanking this year. The draft sounds to be supreme and such point guard like Lowry has nothing to do with dreams about titles. Also Gay and DeRozan aren't Bryant/James.

I'm 70% anti tank. I hate tanking but I can see that this core isn't going very far.

If they do tank then at least I've got League Pass this year.

On realgm, a much larger forum than this, the results were MUCH more skewed in favour of tanking.

Ye they got some crazies over there, it is better here though. I feeling even though they break news faster, I get more factual information here.

Many over there are so irrational and beyond negative. And they lock up threads every 30 minutes it seems. I like it there to get information but beyond that it's a nutty place.

Yup, they are fast with breaking news. But their mods a lock happy and some stuff is just crazy lol. My favourite thing they have are the sigs though. Wish we could have them here.

I really think the system is flawed when you have teams trying to lose. I don't have a better idea of how drafting should work, but when every year now it's like a dark cloud that follows a lot of teams.

You know what's great about soccer (and i don't mean MLS): there's no draft, and if your team is the worst you don't get rewarded... You get kicked out the the league!
I'd like to see some more urgency in north american sports where every team is trying its harderst.
I agree, I really think the soccer model with a majors and a minors where teams can get relegated and actually ascend to higher levels of competition make it fairer, but that doesn't affect talent distribution as in sports with a draft. I really liked the idea of reversing the draft so that team with the 17th best record had the best chances and the with the worst record has the worst chances, but switching models would undoubtedly screw a couple teams over during the transition, which is an issue.

what so bad about tanking when we got ross and Jonas, even if they were tanking there is still something to watch and that's the development of ross and Jonas getting major minutes and offensive touches

trust me it would more enjoyable seeing that then watching rudy gay and demar derozan run off screens just to get a bad shot off

Maybe it's because yesterdays game was zo incredibly horrible but I'm at a point where I don't care anymore what happens to the Raps. Nothing's changed. We're a mess. I was so excited coming into this season but it took me only 2 games to realize I won't put up with this shit anymore, let this frustration into my life.

Most of this is Casey's fault but I wouldn't mind if the whole team is blown up. Let the tank commence, I don't care. I'll stop watching games for a while, I'm certainly not staying up late for them anymore. I'm gonna take some time away from the game. Maybe check the standings every once in a while, but no Raps games. Apparently that's the kind of fan I am... I can do more useful, less frustrating things with my time.

If you need me I'll be in pottery class or something...

After that game last night, I've converted to team pro-tank. And if casey doesn't get fired by the all star game, i'm going to stop being a raptor fan.

That way all of the rich teams get the best players, and smaller markets has absolutely no chance.

the tank/anti tank sentiment will swing with every game, win a couple and things will look better, lose a couple and the reverse will happen

that's why I loved the tough schedule to begin the season, it will provide us with a chance to show our stuff - and not compromise our tanking chances if things don't go well.

I'm still very skeptical we can trade gay/lowry for anything but expiring stuff, but you never know. Demar will have a value though - would probably hold out on him for something good, or keep him on otherwise.

Wow, going through that, this is a very tough stretch for the Raptors. Getting 5 games of Indiana/Utah/Houston/Memphis/Chicago might be the straw that breaks the playoff camels back. It'd be a miracle if we came out of that five game stretch with more than one win. I've got us pegged at 7-15 at the 45 day mark. Would be an improvement over last years 4-18 at the same point, but should still put us on pace for 27 wins(if my math is right, 7 wins in 22 games is about a win every three games, 82/3 equals 27ish).

i voted for tank, but i mean my kind of tanking!

trade away gay and maybe lowry, get picks not players and still try to win games. we'll naturally lose a lot and get somewhere in the lottery. but try to win games, develop players and mentality.

exactly, tanking doesn't mean losing on purpose, you still go there and try to win
just weaken the team enough so you don't too often ...

Best way for JV and Ross to develop would be to give them 25+ minutes a game. Not going to happen (at least for Ross) with Gay and Demar here.

Updated. Raps currently in third place as the only team with a 2-1 record.
