Terrible night for the tank. We win, MIL, ORL, PHI lose.

It has been updated.

So is everyone in favor of making this a thread focusing more on the tank race? Instead of just general?

The results will be skewed by the "what have you done for me lately" mentality. We're riding a 3 game win streak against depleted/bad teams, but people don't realize that and assume we're a better team and suddenly think that this team making the playoffs is more meaningful because they're watchable. Just saying, watchability is not equal to playoff success, some of you might not know that.

Watchability leads to winning.... which eventually leads to playoff success.

This team has had so little success,
I don't think it's hard to believe that being a watchable nearly .500 team is satisfying to Raptor fans. We're obviously starving, lol.

I'm a pretty known supporter of this so called "tank" movement. I think tank is a pretty ugly term. I see that and I think teams that are losing on purpose. That's not what I want to see. I want to see a team that goes out every night, and plays hard. I want to see a team that plays it's young players (JV, Ross) and plays them through a lot. Both of these things seem to be something we have on our hands now, with the recent trade of Rudy Gay.

That's great. On one hand, I'm a guy who wants to see his team win. I totally get why some posters are becoming angry or annoyed with others who are preaching to blow up/tear down/tank or whatever the hell you want to call it. I don't blame them. Fans have waited many a moon for a team that plays hard and plays to win. Part of me loves it. I enjoy seeing JV get double doubles. I enjoy Ross hitting shots like he did the other night.

But then there's the other part. Along with the two things I listed above, there's one more. And it's the most important in a way. It's to have a team with a future! We have an amazing opportunity within our grasp. An opportunity that has come along once in the past ten years. And maybe twice in the twenty years before that. We have the chance to draft high in one of the most highly touted drafts ever. A draft so deep, there are five or six guys who can make legit arguments for number one (and because they are THAT good, not because no one is good enough).

I would just hate if we had a chance to take one of these guys, and didn't, only to have the teams that did take that gamble shoot past us in the standings and we're just left waiting for the next lunar eclipse of the draft world.

If this was a regular draft, I wouldn't care. It's a long shot in most drafts that only feature one, maybe two, marquee players. I know this post will probably get a lot of thumbs down, but it's just my opinion. Now, I'm going to go and try to enjoy the season, regardless of the outcome, and ignore this seemingly never ending dilemma.

End of last season everyone was up on the team. They played well together and were fun to watch. We expected more of that this year, with hope for playoffs.
Expectations hit a rock in Gay not being a team player (and regular overrating of april games). Gay was dealt in a heartbeat, improving our bench in process.

Read again. We were bad because of Gay, Masai dealt him swiftly.
Is this tanking?

If that were the case (we miss out and are left waiting for another decade) then it means that we have another lazy, shoddy GM who doesn't know how to build a team.

Masai doesn't strike me as one of those lazy guys. I have faith that he'll steer us in the right direction regardless of our pick in the draft.

Maybe I'm wrong.

Masai would be lazy if he couldn't build a team as quickly as a GM with a top prospect? I get your point that Masai could build a good team without tanking, but even in Denver, he never had a contender. If building with a top prospect is lazy, I hope Masai is lazy because that is very likely the easiest way to build a contender.

Don't know that everyone was high on the team. The Wiggins hype train started early. I'd say everyone was definitely enjoying JV's play but not everyone liked the team as a whole. Could be wrong though.

I know you treadmill guys look for every excuse to put down Rudy and blame the failure on him, but he wasn't even that bad. He was our best perimeter defender (minus fields maybe), rebounded like a big, was clutch, and though he turned the ball over a lot he was a good slasher.

Meanwhile, the guys in Sac town were also falling short of their expectations. GV was starting ahead of Isaiah Thomas who was clearly better than him, causing SAC management to move him. PatPat was a role player off the bench, which is what he will do here. He's not going to make a big difference on the team. The other two guys were salary fillers and will not make significant impact (though Salmons might be a Rasual Butler-esque tank commander).

Jeffb might be onto something about this fan base. Had we done the poll last week it would have been 75% tank, now its probably back to 50/50. You guys are bipolar.
