Default question about BC plan

i try to figure out the barbosa move.
that give us 7.6M in tpe.
we already had 5.5M in cap space.
so if this was a move to make a deal around the draft, and he say a young player was surprisingmy availale, also casey said he wants to have player angry to play whom have between 25 and 30 years old.

so my question is, witch team has a bad contract around 7.6M to match the barbosa tpe and be more than the 5M we already had in capspace.
and that team must also have a young player whom can provide us something forward

so i think that this deal if he goes true would be with a team
1 player with contract 5M-7.6M
+ 1 young talent (i think a PG)

do you think about a team with a situation like that ?

The whole point of the barbosa move was to get something in return for barbosa without taking back any salary to preserve capspace for the summer. A second round pick is better than nothing.

He's capable of pulling off some complicated, multi-player and multi-team deals. I rememebr a blurb about him and his peers challenging each other with knowledge about cap and tax rules.

They also employ a "capologist" guy, and further to that is now Stefanski.

When they drop the big splash on us, we may not be able to see it coming.
But expect plenty of rumors and sometimes the wrong guys being mentioned.

I think the right mix of players, pics, cash and TPE could net anyone below the top 15 players in the league.

They can simply renounce the TPE and turn it into cap space. So they would have about 12 million to play with going into and on draft day.

for that they can just wait barbosa goes away in the summer.
so i really think that serve a higher purpose trough the draft process.

but they also got a second rounder.... which doesn't have a cap hit and gives them a shot at trying to find a gem.

Nope. By trading him then renouncing the TPE, they will have 12 million in cap space to help with trades during the draft trading period.

By keeping him, his salary stays on the books until July 1st.

there are many teams with way more cap space coming up than Toronto... wheeling and dealing won't be as easy as we think.

oh i know were still players Jeff..I hear ya man, just not like were the only game in town...know what I'm saying. Playing from an already marked geographical disadvantage, it still is't a guaranteed home run!!

True this off-season. Not true at the draft. We are one of the best-placed teams going into the draft to make moves, financially speaking. If we are going to make a splash, that is our best shot, and that's what BC bought by trading Barbosa - that opportune timeframe. This summer we can still make moves, but as SJ said, the market will open up then, and we'll be one among many.

in fact that was my point at the begining of this thread.
in the draft we will have enough to make a substantial trade to upgrade our team.

Indeed. And I was just saying we would have even more than you thought to make such a trade.

Absorb a player's contract with our increased cap space (if the Raps renounce the TPE) or trade the TPE on draft night. One could guess that if BC doesn't renounce the TPE that possibly he has a player or deal in mind - at least that's what I'm getting from Bankiz.

I guess regardless of how BC uses the TPE/Capspace, he certainly has created a highly flexible financial situation that is quite benficial for the team before and after July 1st.

Here's a list of players in that price range. Most are a little long in the tooth and the ones everyone would like are not going anywhere. I would think Felton and OJ on this list could be had which also fits your criteria -though Felton is expiring already.

A player might have a salary that's smaller than your criteria yet is due for a big pay increase at the end of this season. Maybe a player that has played himself into a starting role while the main starter is hurt. Someone like Goran Dragic? Personally I would love to see the Raps trade the TPE/2nd rounder (or whatever) for Dragic, then cross our fingers for MKG (my first choice) or Barnes.

Dragic, DD, MKG, Bargs, JV - me likey

I think we're going to see Jose stay and a SG/SF be brought in.... maybe Mayo, Iggy, Tyreke or Kevin Martin.
