Ah yes, but nobody was Raising Hell on this occasion (my apologies to Run DMC for bastardizing their song). Well, finally, the Raptors
had one go pretty much according to how it should have worked out. The Kings didnít play D, didnít rebound (did you see how guys were moving AWAY from Jamario?), didnít look like they really even wanted to play. Bibby came back from injury and did what we knew he would do, shoot the ball and take a vacation every time back down the court. Same with Martin.
So letís just go to some questions I had going through my mind, some that were actually brought up by Chuck and Leo too.
1. What where Bosh
doing on the court for so long? Yeah, I know the Raptors
have had some trouble closing out games, but as Chuck mentioned, I would hope that they are able to hold a 20 point lead with 5 minutes to go. Get those guys out of there with 8 minutes left and then if it gets back down to single digits, then you bring the starters back in. Itís a long season, you will need your stars down the stretch and into the playoffs. Donít be stupid.
2. Did you see it? 2:00 left in the game and Delfino looks at Dixon, doesnít pass him the ball, brings it upcourt, across the line, makes a few moves and then dishes off. Looked like a PG audition to me. Sure, he carries the ball across half quite a bit, but tonight he looked right at Dixon, who was wide open and decided, no, Iím taking this myself. Not a bad bit of ball handlingÖ
3. Whatís going on with those drums at the games? Not good.
4. How in the hell did that Hump layup go in? Seriously, Iím still trying to see if that was a trick backboard or if the ball was on a sting or something. That was like Canadaís Wonderland, but with the basket working in reverseÖwhere the ball actually goes IN when itís not supposed to.
The one thing I wasnít so impressed with tonight was how the Raptors
started relying on the 3-ball. Sure, it got them back into the game in the second and actually helped them pull away, but you live by the 3, you die by the 3. Against teams like the Kings, you should just be able to dominate from all areas of the court, especially when they have nobody to cover Bosh. Nobody. You canít just get lazy because the shotís working that night and turn it into a shooting gallery. Use those games to work your game.
Okay, not much more to say about tonightís game. Overall, did what they were supposed to do.
