PP: A good guy to hang onto?

Quote:

“Hopefully this will be my last stop, hopefully a place I can build a home and a solid career, so that’s how I see it,” he said of the move. “Nothing bad, just an opportunity that has presented itself and one I can take advantage of.”

Patterson has been a starter in this league before, and truth be told he wouldn’t mind being one again, but he’s comfortable.

“With my personality and my type of mentality, I just want to play,” Patterson says. “I would love to start. Who wouldn’t want to start? But as long as I’m steadily in the rotation, as long as I know how many minutes a night I’m getting, as long as I know when I’m getting in and most importantly that I’m playing, then I am totally fine.

“That’s the type of attitude everyone on this team has. We know who the starters are. We know who is coming off the bench. We know the rotation. We know our roles and no one wants to do more than asked or what’s needed.”

He's been the best player we received in the Gay deal. He's been solid and has a great atittude.

KoolAid 01-11-2014 01:44 PM

Yup, but how much do we keep him for? Do you think he'd take 5 mil when he could take that amount from a contender offering him the MLE? I think Miami would be an amazing fit for him.

MLE?

Great first big off the bench, with the potential to develop into a very good starter.

Naturally, any player that show's well for the Raptors, you're trying to figure out where he can leave for. There are some players that are actually happy to be Raptors, and would prefer to stay.

It's nice to hear him say this, and that he believes in the team :)

I am very impressed with him so far. I mentioned it before that he looks to me like a great locker room guy and a leader. He is very skilled and I like the way he communicates with the players. I hope we keep him. Off the bench I prefer his game over Ed's.

Just wants to know he will play. I would resign him for medium cheap. He will learn to play a lot better under amir.

Agreed. I like Ed but PP's range on his shot (while still being able to act like a big) is helpful.

Great guy to have we should try to lock him up long term on. Hopefully it's not more than 5 mil though

It's always great to have a guy that can be effective as a bench player but step up when called upon.

Young, versatile, has range and is willing to hustle.

Sign me up.

He's a good player who knows his role and plays it well, but the most shocking thing I've seen from him in comparing his game in SAC to TOR is his defensive intensity and rotations. He's been awesome in Toronto, whereas in SAC he didn't look good at all.

With the new CBA, I think a player like him can be signed to a good short term contract, like 3 year 12 million with a team option on the 3rd year, which would be ideal I think.

I'd love to see us let Tyler go and pair Ed Davis WITH Patterson off of the bench. It'd give us awesome versatility in the frontcourt with those two, as well as Amir and JV.

He's a RFA, so if somebody offers him big money its up to us if we match it.
I think he is a good fit for our bench. Most impressed how he is always focused, stays within his game, doesn't take bad shots but is not afraid to shoot open ones. And his D is ok especially compared to Novak and Daye

He can also defend multiple positions which is a nice bonus especially against pick and roll teams.

I think he makes Hansbrough very expendable, and i don't mind Tyler.

On top of what has already been mentioned, he's shown a really nice ability to pass out of the post.

finstock 01-11-2014 04:27 PM

I knew he could stretch the floor, but I've been pleasantly surprised by the way he moves his feet defensively. He really helps/hedges and recovers very quickly. And so far, he's played within his abilities on offense, in addition to consistently making smart passes. Hope we can retain him at a reasonable price.

Excuse me for being curious about the signing possibilities of a RFA

That doesn't sound much like curiousity.

The Diamond Scorpion 01-11-2014 07:05 PM

I have enjoyed having him on the Raps so far. I wouldn't mind a 2-3 year deal for between 3-5 mil per year. If we could get him cheaper I would be happy as hell. Either way, wouldn't mind if we resigned him as he could develop with the young core we have.
