Power Rankings Friday December 30th

Post NBA Power Rankings: Season off to hot start

Solid roster? That's what the nypost thinks of us? thats pretty good. and stick around the 0.500 mark? thats a lot coming from NYpost

jeffb 12-31-2011 12:13 PM

Wouldn't .500 be the worst thing that could happen to this team?

Dario 12-31-2011 12:16 PM

Yeah but considering the Eastern Conference, we could get a near 6th or 7th seat in the playoffs if we went 33-33. I want big named guy in the draft don't get me wrong, but at the same time if we could pull off a 6th seat, im down for it.

sweet Jebus, YES

not going to happen though...this team will compete but fall short nine times out of ten
bottom line is that there is not enough talent...i predict 7-9 wins all year

and yes, i'll be fine with that :)

Dario 12-31-2011 12:19 PM

I would be happy both ways, but I really dont want a 9th or 10th seat, that would probably be the worst thing that could happen, either go for 40 wins, or just go for 5. We'll see how the season plays out.

pzabby 12-31-2011 12:19 PM

500. would be bad for this team, yes. however, 6/7 in the playoffs would depend on the emergence of DeRozan and the final emergence of bargnani. An emergence of Ed davis would be sugar coating for it too. with 500., and if we give an elite team a tough time, wouldn't you say we'd be able to lure a FA here with more ease than lets say the 7-9 wins shadowfax indicated?

-food for thought

Either we make the playoffs or we end up in the basement of the league. No 9th seed this year please, although with the depth of this draft we might end up with a Terrence Jones or a Quincy Miller with a late lottery pick.

Casey is compromising operation tank!

one thing will lure FA's here...money
and correct me if i'm wrong :)..the Raps will have a boatload of it next year

Dario 12-31-2011 12:24 PM

If we do pull of 7-9 wins, I don't know how many players would be wanting to stay on this team.

well, i'd say 3/4s of this roster are gone next year anyways :)

Bargnani, Barbosa, JJ and Amir are locked in..... maybe DeRozan too. After that, it's anybody's guess!

I know everyone with 1 year contracts (maybe not Magloire) are gone next season. I'm not sure about anyone else

LX 12-31-2011 12:33 PM

Nobody is locked in. Stop dreaming.

7-9 wins is nuts. Cleveland will even have more then that. I still say somewhere around 20.

originally had AB as a maybe but have to change my mind after what i've seen so far (ya i know it's only 3 games in :))

my guess is this...DD, AB, Davis and V are locks...Barbosa is probably signed...rest are warm bodies at this point

We'll have to see how the season plays out, we dont know how Ed's gonna do this year, its only been 3 games. i want all of those 5 to stay. I don't care much about the rest, calderon needs to go and we either need to nail a solid playmaking PG, or a SF with some sick and nasty skills, I could see JJ as a serious roleplayer off the bench same with AJ and barbosa as our obvs sixth man

disagree...7-9 is realistic for this team...that would be a win approx every 8 games (i think ??)
and isn't it a good thing if Cleveland wins more ?

I'd say we'd be in the best position if we landed the second worst record in the league. I mean, how often does the worse team end up with the first pick? :cookie:

:haha:
too true :)

Ammo 12-31-2011 12:50 PM

7-9 might be low because they will catch some tired teams, or just have hot shooting nights. Laugh at me later if I'm wrong, but being around .500 would be almost impossible. They have no one in crunch time, no one breaking down defenses, no one getting to the foul line and essentially, they still don't have a starting centre or SF.

In a throw away year, I'm happy for the guys to get rewarded with the occasional win, but there won't be many.
