Default Potential trading partners in acquiring a 2nd pick

Here are three teams which could be options in Colangelo's quest to buy/trade for another pick:

T-Wolves: Three 1st round picks(#6, 18 and 28)
- Revenues can't be great with such poor performances. One has to think they're open for business.
Pacers: 13th overall pick
- Struggling financially
- One of the 15 teams who accepted loan money
- Talks over moving or selling the team...Or both.
Hornets: 21st overall pick
- Struggling financially
- Most likely one of the teams who accepted the loan money
- Attempted to deal Chandler for expiring contracts and are rumoured to revisit again in the summer. In other words they're desperately trying to save money.

*Note: The Kings, Grizzlies, Thunder and Bulls also all have multiple picks in the 1st round as well.

T'Wolves #18 pick

the have a lot of young quality players (Jefferson, Love, Foye, Gomes, #6, #28)

so they might trade one

Not to mention that there are a lot of forwards at the back end of the draft and that isn't really a need. At that spot guys like BJ Mullens and Tyler Hansbrough could be in play. I love Handsbrough's game. He won't be spectacular but he will give a team something similar to what Jorge Garbajosa provided Toronto for a couple seasons. That's a score at the back end of the draft.

Wizards want to trade their pick.. And even more so since they aren't in the top three, But we might need to package more than our 2.8 million cash to attain that pick.

Harden with that group would be sick. If they do deal that #5 pick, they'll be looking for a player in return who can step in and help immediately.

I'm thinking the Raptors would have to give up their #9 selection in the deal. The Raptors don't have much of worth outside the core. They're probably better off trying to buy a pick later in the draft.

OKC might deal a latter first round pick.

And Washington will probably definately deal theirs for some capspace in a deal sending out Songalia and Stevenson(example)

Timberwolves probably wont deal their pick, but Miller might now become a bit more available.

And I would definately like Miller on this team if the other starters stay the same.
Jose/Miller/Marion/Bosh/Bargs

atlanta might be coerced in selling us the pick ...
BC could go to them and threaten to make a high offer to marvin, after they match we can make another offer to childress, and they either lose him, or go into luxury territory

I can understand getting New Orleans' (and Washington's if it's availible), since they're close to the LT and would rather not take on guaranteed contracts if they won't provide immediately help. But with rebuilding teams like the wolves and Indiana who aren't anywhere near the tax threshhold, wouldn't it be smarter just to keep the pick since it's young talent on the cheap for the next 4 years?

I think Utah's might be available if they pay Millsap and/or have to resign Memo and Korver. Chicago might sell their 26th if they pay Gordon.

I can imagine all kinds of teams that might want to shed salary and gain cash. The business of basketball did not do so well last season, and isn't expected to improve immediately.

I think New Orleans will definitely be selling their pick. #21 for our 3 mil, I'd be very surprised if that didn't happen actually

That would be a nice starting five. Miller and Marion guarding guys on the perimeter would make the team's defense a lot better.

Idiana have been operating in the red for most of the past ten years. They need to worry about surviving and nothing else right now. When you're losing $20-30M/yr suddenly a $3M offer starts to look appetizing. Ultimately Indiana needs to cut cap and make up some money on the side. Maybe the Raptors throw in something to sweeten the pot, such as a future second rounder?

15 teams needed to use the league loan to pay the bills this year and the economy in the U.S. is only going to get worse.

They can go after Childress with MLE. No biggie. We can offer more but it just wouldn't be worth it in the end.

Do they really want to sign a guy to start at the 2 who is not a great ball handler and has hideous shot mechanics?

I would love for us to get the #6 pick from the Timberwolves. Considering they have three picks they will likely trade one of them, sad thing is it's most likely the going to be #18 or #28 pick.

Screw the #6 pick. Take 28 and Miller. Or just Miller. That would be sweet.
