Default Potential PG free agents: Summer of '12

Was looking at a list online, trying to find someone who might be a good replacement if we deal Jose for something other then a Point Guard.

Jonny Flynn interests me. I know he's stunk it up last season, but didn't play a ton, probably due to his hip surgery. But had great numbers in his rookie year, and is only barely 23. Maybe give him a shot?

Here's the list BTW, think it's accurate:

I need to clear something up before people go looking at that list and get the wrong idea:

Jeremy Lin is NOT an unrestricted free agent. He is protected by the Gilbert Arenas rule.

I would honestly go as hard as possible after Nash, something like 2 years 24 million. What could help the development of our young guys more than the orchestrator of an elite offence? He'll make the game so much easier for guys like DD/ED/Jonas especially, and obviously Bargs. I think it'd be a dream offseason if we were to get Barnes in the draft, Nash in free agency, and then attract a few veterans in free agency after signing Nash. Not only would we be an exciting playoff team come the next 2 years, we would build a winning culture where in 2 years where Nash retires, we'll have a winning team with really young good players that are ready to take the next step and players will want to play here.

can't really see how Nash could do better than Calderon with this team.
And for that kind of money? Why?

Of the 2nd tier PGs I like Ish Smith and Ramon Sessions

O fthe first tier... Would trade anybody for Steph Curry

He had a 15-assist (or close to that) game about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I was surprised when I saw the boxscore and that he was still playing.

I say we have to sign a SF and trade for a PG, maybe using our 2012 pick + Davis + S&T Barbosa to do so.

Look at what Nash is doing with PHX. Would you really consider them much more talented than us? And yet he still makes them a really tough team to stop offensively. Of course he would do better than Calderon ,come on.

I like Steph, but his ankle really scares me. He could easily be one of the better PGs in the NBA if you get him away from GSW, but he needs PHX's training staff to keep him away from the DL.

I'd like to give Kirk Hinrich a run in Toronto. I think he would be an amazing fit in Casey's defensive system; in the past, he has been known as the team's best perimeter defender.

only PG that really interests me is DJ Augustin, young and is a proven starter
kirk hinrich isn't bad either but his price is a little high for the value, he can run a team and is a good perimeter defender, but his offense has gone downhill so the price will be too high for the value

Hinrich's price means nothing since his contract expires at the end of this season.

Im not sure its best idea to pay that much for nash he is very old already in basketball terms, i think it is a miracle that he is playing the qay he is. If you want solid veteran why not to try Kid he is cheaper And im tellin you we have to try darius morris that kid has potential! we could take him as a 3 rd pg 0.5 mil is nothing, we pay more for AC. And whoever mentioned Curry, im very down for that!

Nash is playing this way because of his work ethic and skill. I dont doubt for a second he has at least another 2 years left in him.

I really don't see the downside to signing him this offseason. We have the cap space, we're going to have a ton of young guys that he can mentor, and my biggest thing, give them confidence while on the floor. Nash will make Derozan and Bargs look like allstars and we'd easily make the playoffs and be a dangerous team come playoff time with him surrounded by young athletic talented players.

Why go for the mediocre when you can have the cream of the crop?

I think Hinrich and Calderon are pretty similar, but Jose has proven he is the better player.

I think it's worth investigating a trade for Eric Bledsoe.

He has shown a lot of promise, and his value is low at the moment.

Also, he can't be happy backing up Chris Paul.

EggsToTheBBQ - That seems like something Colangelo would do. A player on another team who is not getting an opportunity to play, going to a team where they will get that opportunity to play. Colangelo did it with Amir, Weems, James Johnson, and Bayless. LAC has only started to actually play him with Chauncey being injured for the rest of the season. Even then, he is still only averaging 6.2 mins/game.
