They played great tonight imo. They made a few rookie mistakes that killed them but it's expected. This is practice for them. It's gonna be interesting watching them this road trip now that we have a full roster.

I wonder how Sonny feels now that he has to fight Julian for minutes lol
The last person i want the ball in his hands at the end of a game is Bayless...

Are you nuts?... Bad decisions and a turn over machine...

He'll learn tho

then ppl said basic D was basically stuff like lead Offensive player to baseline...or funnel to shot blocker..whether to switch on picks etc etc..NBA players by now should prob know this I hope...

So what exactly are we "missing" or not teaching the players?

I`ve always heard everyone complain that almost everyone on this team is bad on D (jose, bargs, DD) individually...is Triano or some assistant coach supposed to be able to change this and make them all bowens n perkins??

I remember in a broadcast...NBA coaches really only have like 5-6 diff "plays" n just slight variations of the same thing - its whether u have the personnel who cann do it. a head coach is there to be a guide..to motivate. etc. in my mind, most of these guys seem to be playing pretty hard, so Triano in my mind is doing his job ok.

btw I was completely fine with his play call at the end on the Jose drive in a one point game, high percentage shot, good free throw shooter if fouled (not like DD), generally not wild 1 on 1 drives and good handle on ball (not like Barbosa or DD) which would result in more likelihood of strip as Atl is locking down...and considering Bargs would most likely get most of the Def attention...I thought Jose drive was a fine play.

There's something I always do when I watch the game - when a shot goes up, BEFORE it goes in or out, I decide whether it was a good shot or not. Too many ppl determine a "good" shot selection based on the result like whether it goes in or not. Bad shot goes in, I question the playcall still. Good shot rims out, o well bad luck. In this case, Harford made a good play, the playcall was fine for me. Just too bad but no complaints
GREAT POST

Finally someone sensible after another loss! Instead of the 90% here are pissed the fuck off after a loss for a rebuilding team that most of them want tanking and losing anyway yet are a few steps from the ledge...

Shit happens we lost and it is what it is a loss. We missed some easy baskets tonight Barbosa played well however he missed 2 or 3 easy lay ups. DD misses a dunk. Hey the basketball gods were not with us tonight.
Never saw so many fouls called against us , the Hawks were getting some phatom calls at 3 pt land. The Crawford bomb was the killer. That shot really hurt us, after that bomb i knew then that a win was not in the cards.

+1 on your post ..

It was a fun game to watch. I still found it frustrating thru the night to see the phantom calls going to Hawks. What a disparity on foul shots !

DD was trying to get calls, but he was making too many mistakes with the ball for the Refs to take his drives seriously .. hopefully he will continue to learn. You could see him losing his confidence as the night went on .. In the end he has improved yoy and thats that what you want from a player.

Barbosa playing 1 on 5 was fun to watch for about 2 minutes, but when a complete qtr is played that way .. hurts the team down the stretch.

He played like the ankle was no problem. He even threw down a two handed dunk! But he was his old self, trying to go iso instead of playing like a pass first PG. I hope he would have learned some watching Jose from the bench.

He turns it over when he tries to do too much. You want somebody that can draw contact, and finish, and that somebody isnt Jose. It should have been DeRozan, he`s the guy that should have the ball in these kinds of situations.

He got 5 assists, and took 7 shots, in 16 mins. That's pretty good, and unselfish imo. He took a few bad shots but that was because nothing was happening offensively. Jose needs to be traded so he can get used to running the team, and I guarantee he will put up the same number of assists as Jose, maybe even more points.

Ref's decided we would not win the game and that was that. No calls on goaltending and fouls.

Like Atlanta only commited 12 fouls, what kind of bs reffing is that.

No way? You act like JC is some sort of elite PG lol.

He averaged like 16 points, and 8 assists when he started, it is very possible. He just needs to work on distributing the ball better.

Well even with the let down in the end it was a good game and entertaining one. We fought to the end against a better team while they were not playing that badly. Actually Crawford was making all kinds of tough shots all night, which he of course is capable of, but they dont go in in every game.

Some notes:
- The last calls (no foul on Jose, Amir moving screen) were right. Cant deny that. But there was a lot of bad officiating during the game.
- The second to last play call was about what I expected (Jose drive). Told my wife before the play that they wont get a shot at the rim and thats just what happens. I can understand that they went for suprising scenario (who expected Jose to get the shot) and Jose would be pretty good from the line, but still I think they should have had something better than just a Jose drive. But Triano isnt too good in these scenarios.
- That being said, I was suprised how good look we got with 1 sec left. Even if it was from far away and didnt go in, I was pretty sure we wouldnt get a shot of. AB can make those shots too.
- Outside the play drawing I thought Triano did a good job. The zone was working and he kept with it.
- Barbosa had a great game, but him going one-on-five isnt a solution on most nights. Tonight it worked ok.
- You cant blame Jose for being inconsistent. He has had like 10 games in row with 10 +/- 2 points and assists.
- There were some killer moments in this one. Crawford three from the stands, DD fouling Crawford shooting a three, and Bibby make in the end. Not much we could have done about two of those (the Bibby shot was pretty contested) and the DD foul is a mistake young guys make.

Overall cant really be dissapointed. We are bound to make mistakes and lose games. We are just not that good.
