Bad teams consistently find ways to lose games. Time and time again the Raptors have shown us they are in this category

No defencive system at all. Triano still believe in out-scoring teams. If he wanted his players to play D, he would put in Wright, but He doesn't believe that they can win with his defencive system!.... BTW, THERE IS NO FUCKIN DEFENCIVE SCHEMES AT ALL!!! Everybody scramble and hope other team miss.

I think he had to much time and no signs of improvement!

Yeah overall he has no consistent defensive system or scheme. But he did make little schemes and defensive plans during the game. Playing zone when we were getting beat when playing man and shutting down Crawford in the 3rd. Overall, no defensive system like Boston.

we're just a bad rebounding team to start with. We have no strenght in the front court without Reggie imo. So imagine playing zone, and the oposing team having cutters, our players would have thard time finding the offensive player to box out.
I mean Reggie was racking offensive rebounds earlier this season, thats how hard he was fighting for rebounds. So, we're pretty bad rebounding team without him anyway.

We played the zone well, don't get me wrong. I was making a remark to the fact that weaker teams usually play zone.

Thats true. I remember seeing your post about the zone defense and weak teams and argued that the zone defense isn't meant for weak teams. But your post now cleared it up for me. Its true that weaker teams usually go zone more than the other teams mostly because they can't match up talent, strength, and speed wise.

What are you talking about? Triano's done a good job implementing his team Canada style defense on the raptors.

question: what do you guys mean by "implementing defense system"...

I always thought D was basically trust n hustle n pride, which u can`t really teach

then ppl said basic D was basically stuff like lead Offensive player to baseline...or funnel to shot blocker..whether to switch on picks etc etc..NBA players by now should prob know this I hope...

So what exactly are we "missing" or not teaching the players?

I`ve always heard everyone complain that almost everyone on this team is bad on D (jose, bargs, DD) individually...is Triano or some assistant coach supposed to be able to change this and make them all bowens n perkins??

I remember in a broadcast...NBA coaches really only have like 5-6 diff "plays" n just slight variations of the same thing - its whether u have the personnel who cann do it. a head coach is there to be a guide..to motivate. etc. in my mind, most of these guys seem to be playing pretty hard, so Triano in my mind is doing his job ok.

btw I was completely fine with his play call at the end on the Jose drive in a one point game, high percentage shot, good free throw shooter if fouled (not like DD), generally not wild 1 on 1 drives and good handle on ball (not like Barbosa or DD) which would result in more likelihood of strip as Atl is locking down...and considering Bargs would most likely get most of the Def attention...I thought Jose drive was a fine play.

There's something I always do when I watch the game - when a shot goes up, BEFORE it goes in or out, I decide whether it was a good shot or not. Too many ppl determine a "good" shot selection based on the result like whether it goes in or not. Bad shot goes in, I question the playcall still. Good shot rims out, o well bad luck. In this case, Harford made a good play, the playcall was fine for me. Just too bad but no complaints

What a game! Props to Barg's and Barbosa.

Bibby, the typical Raptor killer (and he didn't even have a big game but I knew as soon as he got the inbound, he was going to nail the shot), along with Crawford and Johnson were just too much.

I was at the game and it was tough to see this game got slipped away. The worst part was when we were 4 points up on the Hawks with about 2 minutes to play.

Man, seeing Bibby draining the three and then made a cocky facial expression and pump fist was so tough to watch.

We played well though. Especially Barbosa down the stretch.

I felt the ref were biased throughout the game, kept blewing the whistle on the Raptors players (i don't know what's the comparison in terms of foul shots but for sure the hawks went to the line way more often).

The Hawks also got those rare 3 free throws a few times.

DeRozan tried his best to get fouls but yet didn't got any this game. Barbosa played well once again. The last play was questionable, instead of giving Jose who isn't really a drive in the paint type of guard, the last play should have drawn to Barbosa who could take it to the hole with his speed even with 5-7s left in a shotclock.

Anyhow, it was definitely an entertainng game.
