That wasn't the play that was called. One of the 3pt shooters in the corners was supposed to get the ball. We got lucky. Still fun.

I was pretty impressed with Triano's coaching at the end of this game. The full-court pressure/trap on Dixon that forced the turnover with about 15secs left was a great decision. Many coaches would have just gone for the foul.
The play for Marion out of the time out worked to perfection.
The Bosh three might not have been the first option, but you can't argue with success. CB4 was wide open and Jose made the right play.
It was about time the Raps were on the winning end of one of those games.

So? The trap created a turnover. What difference does what Dixon was supposed to do make? It's what actually happened that counts.

No Dixon was supposed to get the ball over the center line however he could and let time run down...or get fouled in the process. The trap worked perfectly... he couldn't hold the ball and Butler wasn't expecting the pass.

It was the sorta play that illustrates why you never give up. 99% of the time that doesn't work out but for the 1% it does, it's worth doing.

so in turn, the play where the ball was tipped back over the halfcourt and Bosh lazily went back to get it, washington stole it, was washington coaching genius?

Those plays aren't comparable.
The entire purpose of a trapping full-court press is to force turnovers. If Washington had recognized it and executed a proper press break, it probably wouldn't have worked.
In theory there should have been one of the Wiz' bigs right where Dixon threw the ball.
Instead they were unprepared, expecting to just get fouled.
Nobody said it was coaching genius. It was actually pretty standard basketball. We just haven't seen timely, effective, strategic coaching decisions in Raptorland in a long time.

No that wasn't a called play..that was in the flow of the game...Bosh was lazy on that possession and a lot of us fans screamed at the tv when it happened.

Do you really see these as the same thing(called play vs play in the flow) or is this just more arguing??

Is being a shit disturber fun?

The trap on Dixon worked quite well, and Triano called a great sequence of play in the Marion cut to the basket and the Bosh 3.

Now you're talking about a hole different play.

Since you dont' have an answer we all accept that you admit you were wrong and the trap play was a good one called by Triano while the Dixon steal was not a called play, rather a lapse by CB4 and Jose...and we accept your apology for making us waste a bunch of time to come to this conclusion with more posts than should have been required

ummmm ok, but originally i was speaking about the cb4 three, comparing the looseball play to that, a broken play, not designed by the coach, so i accept your apology for not even understanding what im talking about, i will try to be more clear next time so you dont make a long winded post about how right you were, when you dont even know what im talking about TO and others were giving all the credit for the Bosh 3 to triano, then you midaswell give all the credit for that mid court steal to the wiz coach.... get it???

Nice try but if you read the thread we were talking about the trap play by the time you entered and you compared the Dixon broken play to the trap play.

Midaswell read it again if you are still confused

Trapping at the end of the game when you're losing is pretty standard. Give Jay credit for making the right decision in not fouling their best free throw shooter on the court. But that's just giving credit for doing what he is supposed to do.

It's not like he pulled a Butch Carter and did something drastic that paid off, like putting two guys on the inbounder. He made the right choice out of 2 or 3 options, but Dixon messed up. Simple as that.
