Albeit he hasn't stepped it up lately, but in his own defense his supporting cast have done nothing to make his job easier either. Let's face it, we don't have the depth or consistency from others to be a team that can be taken seriously.
Yeah true i wish JO was still in his defensive prime and i wish we had delfino back on the wing... we can only hope someone comes along after the holidays.. i doubt it will do much but i think mixing things up can maybe put a little confidence in our players

It's the most frustrating thing and reason why so many ppl are mad and bitching/whining/complaining. Toronto fans booing. It has to be heard by Colangelo one way or another.

We better get our shit together quickly, if we lose to 2 of the Clips, Sactown, and GS on this trip, and then get our asses handed to us by Portland/Denver/Houston/Orlando... then we're looking 11-23 straight in the face. Meaning we'd have to go 30-18 to get 41 wins, the playoff barometer, if the playoffs is 43 wins we'd need 32-16. Yikes.

unless something dramatic happens, playoffs are wishful thinking. I only hope we win again this month, which doesn't look very likely right now.

Defensively I don't think we can ask for much more from JO. Sure he's not in tip top shape, but he's probably still been our best and most consistent defender this season. Maybe I'm one of the few, but offensively what he's shown this season is exactly what I expected from Jermaine. All-in-all, I have to say that he's one of the few that have impressed me so far this season considering I didn't have high expectation for him.

JO is exactly what most have expected, a strong defensive presence with a sometime shaky offensive. Which makes it even more puzzling why have we dropped so much in level of play.

Yeah true doc im glad that hes in O.T when hes been on the floor hes been great and i think what i admire most about him is he accepted himself just being a role player for the Raptors more than a star which i think is more then Bosh could ever do. Im not ripping on Bosh i just don't think he could handle being a second option to LBJ.

I think Delfino was a huge difference he won or helped us win 10-15 games last season and we had more depth with 2 solid PGs

bosh is what he always was - a jump shooter with a quickness advantage over slower PFs. He's probably a top 5 PF in the league and maybe a top 25 player in the whole league. When he had a string of good performances, some people made him to be a MVP type of player, which he never was, and probably never will be. If this team adds one or two good pieces, his game will improve a lot. However, he is not that rare player who can carry a team by itself.

While MVP type of guards carry the team with scorin, MVP type of big men can only carry their team with defense, which is his weak point. Bosh, like Jose, can be crucial pieces in a championship team, but it needs to be a team constructed like Detroit, with quality players at all positions. Asking Bosh or Jose to carry this team is unreasonable, so it's not their fault when they can't.

However, the problem with Bosh is that he will ask for MVP type of money in 2010, and I can't really justify that.
I've noticed a few times that we play under more control when he's on the bench, both offensively and defensively, he is hindering the progress of JO's game IMO. This goes back to when Carter was mad that we picked him, he was very small back then and hasn't got much bigger. I remember Hubie Brown said at the draft that he would/should get much better if he got bigger in a couple of years.

he did get bigger in his first 2 seasons, and then he stopped. I don't think he changed at all since his 3rd season.

Delfino was much much better then Kapono, and that's why Kapono barely got any PT last year, now we try using him as the go-to (the root of the problem with our team is that it has no go-to).

Barely though. Like honestly he gained the normal weight a non-athlete would gain at those ages.

I think his arms got much bigger after the first year - I remember thinking that he looked funny with very strong arms and a skinny upper body (and to an extent he still looks a bit disproportionate)

Watch that video. At about 14 seconds watch how they run the offense to get Bosh a shot, it goes through everyone before Bosh. That's how he should get occasional shots, not giving it to him at 20 feet out at the top of the key so he can hold the ball for 5 seconds and shoot almost every possession.

It's the personnel and coaching. Just watch the previous post of mine with that video of the Raptors a few years ago, look how they set up the offense and the variety of players. Now we play awful with players that should be in the D league.

Delfino helped but it's really a combination of things I think. Parker becoming useless is HUGE IMO. Our best wing defender and a threat to go for 15-20+ every night, plus a stabalizing veteran presence... he's been such an underrated asset and now he sucks. That combined with Moon stinking it up and Delfino leaving = tough to swallow.

One of the biggest faults is Jose just not being as good as we thought he was, though. When he cooled down at the end of the last year we thought it was an abberation because of the TJ mess, but that was his true colors, his crazy streak before that was the abberation. We sucked A LOT with a mediocore Jose starting last year, and we suck again this year with it. Having a PG who gets penetrated on so much really REALLY hurts the defence.

As a whole though it just seems this team is a lot more heartless and effortless than last year. Delfino was good for that as a colorful, spark guy.

Well it's too bad we couldn't have traded some expirings for Crawford. I don't mean to overreact, as it is just SAS, but if the Raps don't turn it around soon, either through a roster move or internally (unlikely at this point), the season is essentially done. I have no interest in seeing an 8th seed first round exit.

JO is playing how I though he would this year and Joey G is playing better than I thought, except for this game.

everyone is worse, I think were going to tank this year so we can rebuild in the offseson and get one of the highly touted assistants to coach the Raps
