I think everyone can agree now that this team as a whole is bad defensively and it's not just one/two players..*cough*Bargs/Caldy*cough*

DeRozan 36 points and 10 rebounds.

Both Davis and DeRozan played great... they are clearly the future.

I think the young guys don't like playing with Bargs.
They bust their ass off in practice and come game time, it's Bargs starting!!!
It's like WTF!!! We ain't gonna make you look good!!
That's what I saw tonight!!!

I don't buy that... we don't have a center on this team. Bargnani and Aginca are not centers, we need a guy like Greg Oden.

how does having a center all of a sudden make this team a good defensive team
being good defensively is all about positioning and rotating, as long as you have the correct size and length rotating in the right positions your team can defend well
just cuz you have a shot blocking center doesn't make your team good defensively or mean that the center is a good defender either
dwight howard is the best example, his team is not good defensively and he himself is a poor defender, he just blocks shots and that stat gets you all excited into thinking he can defend, his positioning is poor and he gets into foul trouble all the time

I guess what he means is that Bargs isn't a center, his natural is as people say PF. Greg Oden is more of your traditional center and would be better defensively than Bargs.

But they made 14? threes on 50%ish shooting today. That's horrible perimeter defense, something that Bargs wasn't even apart of for the most part.

Davis and DD played well tonight, Bayless too.

22/13 Davis
36/10 DD
19/5 Bayless - maybe more if he didn't foul out

Even Weems played well off the bench. Once JJ and Amir get consistent and all, we're a good team going forward. Although I would keep Calderon is we don't draft a PG in the summer, or else we'll have moments like this when we only have one PG. With Bargs out, we're more a tougher team mentally and physically. Bargs to me sets the tone of laziness and soft.

I have to disagree.

Dwight Howard is a beast on defence. He alters shots. Even if he doesn't block them, the offensive player will get intimidated.

Orlando allows 94 PPG, which is good for top 5 in the league.

At least we would get some defense at the center position. Getting torched by Amare Stoudemire tonight is a prime example of why we need a true center like Greg Oden. If were talking about individual match-ups, Bargnani and Aginca don't do shit, they can't contain a guy like Stoudemire if their life depended on it. And another thing.. players just drive to the rim like its nothing, Bargnani just sits on his ass and watches players dunk on him. Other teams encourage their players to dunk on Bargnani because he doesn't do anything. Greg Oden is such a threat that it'll change the whole morale of this team. Being 7 feet and 285 pounds is physically too much to handle for alot of people, he wears out alot of guys in the paint. People FEED OFF of defensive energy, something a guy like Oden brings. Also he brings protection to the paint and incredible defense for centers who torch us day in and day out.

I didn't catch the game, but the box score says Bargs played only 8 minutes. Was he injured? Or benched for not playing well?

For the second straight game I didn't even know we were playing tonight. Got home and saw the Raptors score online. Judging from the box score it wasn't pretty.

What are you smoking man? Oden is made of glass, we'll get about 3 wins max. before he goes down with injury.

Yeah, but Oden is more injury-prone than Reggie. I don't want Oden anywhere near this team.

Meh, you never know. He could prove to have knees of steel and just happened to play to his potential

Good defensive center forces other teams players to shoot from outside and make his team mates focus more on perimeter defence. With Bargnani there is no defensive threat and our players know if someone passes them it will be easy point so they try to defend more close to rim.
