Post-Game Thread: Minnesota Timberwolves 88 - Toronto Raptors 94

another fantastic game by chris, but i'm looking at jarrett jack as player of the game. 12 trips to the line, great d, flirting with a triple double. love it.

both teams played like garbage, but we gutted this one out. nice to see the boys have the stones to get it done when things aren't going their way. the starters were fine, even with bargs' off-game, but the bench gave nothing at all.

ugly victory, but i'll take it.

JJ:yeah:

Shifty.py 12-08-2009 09:44 PM

CB was quite tired at that interview. Gave his all fighting big Al I guess. Considering both him and Andrea weren't 100%, good game.
Demar doing well, bench unusually weak tonight. I hoped Banks would do better, but he was noticeably slow on rotations.

RAPTORS WIN

RAPTORS WIN

RAPTORS WIN!!!!

Ugly...but it's a W baby! :yeah:

jeffb 12-08-2009 09:45 PM

Wheeewww!

Gutting out the win.

Balance

Bosh 21/16
Jack 17/8/7
Turk 16/8/4
Derozan 15/6
Bargs 15/6

Bench was awful- 3-16 (10pts)

Lets please not start a Jack should start over Caldy thread/debate please...

Ex2k 12-08-2009 09:47 PM

I like Derozans game

Shifty.py 12-08-2009 09:48 PM

Its inevitable Ex2k :)
Whats worrying is that Jack does play better when he starts, showed that in Indiana too.

+1

the fact is, they'll both continue to get 30mpg. That debate is pointless.

Stonezz 12-08-2009 09:48 PM

Ugly game, beautiful outcome

I will hereby join in on the Triano bashing that has been taking place so far. He seriously needs to hold his players accountable, there were stretches in the game when both teams were just taking jumpshots without even waiting for their offences to catch up. In one instance I saw Andrea shoot a 3 (missing as usual) and Derozan turned around to run back to our side as Andrea shot the ball instead of trying to get in the inside for an Offensive rebound. Things like that happened the whole game.

My question is why does this coach always bring up lack of practise when we can't even take a game that is given to us seriously. The way we played this game tonight is the way people pick up bad habits. How can we ever expect to be a serious team when we don't give it our all?

Troublesome96 12-08-2009 09:50 PM

With Jose out Banks played a lot of minutes. Being a very unpolished offensive player (3 pts, 0 ast,) I think he probably hurt our offensive production a bit. Obviously that wasn't all of it, most of our wide open shots just weren't falling. But nonetheless we managed to play good enough defense to tough it out. Defense can be constant while offense comes and goes. Needed this one and our next.

An encouraging sign..

Very impressed with tonight's win. 2 weeks ago we would've lost this one easily.... This time we gutted it out.

When was the last time that you saw us dominate a team at the FT line like that? Almost 50 FTAs!

I also dug the fact that we only turned it over 9 times and still hit the glass hard.

Jack gets my player of the game vote too. He was sublime tonight. THAT's the savvy vet that we were thought we were getting when we signed him. Good on him.

And is there any doubt now that Bosh ISN'T an MVP-calibre player? As expected, when the TEAM steps up and gives him help he looks even more dominant and even shines on D! :dancing:

These last 3 wins taught this team a lot....

1) vs. WAS: How to win when both teams are scoring at a pretty good clip.

2) vs. CHI: How to step on a team's throat when you're playing well and they aren't.

3) vs. MIN: How to win a game when NEITHER team is playing well.

MIL should be a very good test for us tomorrow. They've been pretty solid this season and Jennings and Bogut can definitely light us up if we take them lightly.

All-in-all VERY happy tonight. Even if they gave me a heart attack a few times lol.

jeffb 12-08-2009 09:51 PM

Does anyone ever remember us winning while shooting 32% and .095% from 3??

:laughing1:

Nah it won't happen Bosh said it at the end in the post game interview. JJ is a professional hes knows his role .

Jack was solid filling in however as a team we played bad tonight. Not very often the other team shoots better and they lose.

Bosh again was our top gun. Very difficult to see this team without chris the monster bosh !
