I don't want swagger...especially from a guy who won't even be one a an NBA roster come January.

I don't know, it just seemed kind of lame.

I don't get him at all. Please Reggie - get better. Pops has the energy going for him, but ends up with so little to show for it. He keeps missing from in close, gets the nice block and then fumbles the ball away on the other end. He needs to be on the end of the bench more often than not.

It's amazing how good a coach looks when his players bust ass and actually execute.

The Raptors shortfall so far has been on the players IMO, hearing them all admit to trying harder now, and trusting each other after a meeting preety much sums up thier lack of leadership issue. Hopefully someone has emerged, and they will be a bit more compretitive night in, and night out now.

Is it Jack? Could be.
Here's the thing. People were not held accountable before. No changes were made, nor even hinted at. Triano made out like there were no real problems. With this game, and in little bits in games prior to this one, he has actually had the guts to make some decisions based on what players are bringing or not bringing. That is his job, and he just hasn't been doing that up to now. And even now it looks like Jose's injury has made it easy on him. From everything I've heard - the whole meeting was needed, because Triano refused to acknowledge problems. The players were showing plenty of leadership in not trying to make excuses.

Jack and Weems playing extended minutes, Beli on a short leash, and Bargnani with some reduction in minutes, is a pretty good recipe for success that has been missing for far too long.

And the second half had some lesser defense, but the Rockets went through a long long stretch in the third quarter without much scoring. Ariza was frustrated for a reason. That game was not won in the first quarter. It was the third quarter if anything. To say they outscored us for the rest of the three quarters is trying to stretch things a little. They scored 1 more point than us through the rest of the way? That hardly speaks to a defensive letdown in my mind. They have guys that can score, and Landry has looked better than Duncan all season long, especially late in games.

Good game today. Everyone played reallly well. I liked it when both Amir and Pops played. Hedo finally stepped up and played like I wanted him to since the start. Bosh was a monster like always. Bargs was amazing in the first driving to the rim and schooling Scola. Jack is the player of the game for sure. He had an amazing game in the absence of Caldy. Close to a triple double as well

Great game, great win, great job Raptors. Great game by Jack, my vote to him. Thats the type of PG we need, tough, good defender, not afraid of contact and a slasher.
I like Weem also from the start of the season. He should get more minutes.

Exactamundo.

I understand what SJ is saying (and I firmly believe that the PLAYERS were/are to blame more than anyone else) but Triano showed me something a little bit different this game... and that was having the GUTS to sit guys that he usually plays (Wright, Belli) while going with a guy that he usually doesn't (Weems).

I can't say enough how impressed I was with the subs too. Triano seemed like he had a good leash on ALL the guys. If someone wasn't getting it done he wasn't afraid to take him out for a bit and let him think about why.

I'm just comparing their playing styles. Not there accomplishments or stats. I had a feeling that someone on this forum would reply to my post in this manner.

I've thought much of the same thing. Remember where Chauncey was at this point in his career - stuck with coaches wanting him to split time at the 1 and 2, or just the 2 altogether, and not given enough of a chance to develop his true abilities as a floor leader and team leader. Jack has a similar sturdy frame, can be a good defender, and if he ever gets that cocky 3 going, then I don't see much difference.

I was thinking that too. He's got that stocky build which is good for guarding other point guards and he's quick but missing the consistent long bomb in his game.

Poor Ariza
Going 0-9, taking a cheap shot.. and missing that too... Talk about an off night.

Although its looks like the usual Raptors fan moodswings, you have to admit that Jack DOES play better when he starts, did so in Indiana too. And he meshes with Hedo best.
Triano needs to bench Jose, forget being the good guy and remember Jose played his best off the bench. Name him our Manu if you like.

If Jack wants to be like Chauncey, he needs to learn how to post up.

Thats exactly how i see it also. In yesterdays game Triano was actually asked about the Jack and Wright calling out and you could tell he wasn't exactly pleased about it. He said when you point your finger at someone or something, that you can't forget in what direction the other's are pointing in. He felt that in doing that you yourself, are shunning responsibilty as part of the problem.

I think it had to be done because Triano didn't have the balls to actually tackle the problem head on. When players aren't being held accountable there's no question who is at fault. The coach has the ultimate power of playing time to solve problems and has to show toughness in procuring accountability. Maybe now Jay will be angered and embarrassed enough to actually toughen up his mentality, which will provide a whole lot more substance than beating up a few helpless clipboards.
