Possibly the first time in 2 years....

.... that I've enjoyed watching a Raptor game from beginning to end.

Yes, the defense was still spotty but there were A LOT of good things that I saw in tonight's game that give me some hope for the future.

I screamed like a teenage girl at a Bieber concert when JV threw down that dunk in the 1st Q and I was VERY impressed with DD and Fields' concerted efforts to get into the paint for easy scores. Lowry also looked great. Delivered exactly what you'd want from him. Solid performances from Ed and Amir as well.

Now if only we could convince DET to take Bargs for Drummond.... :p

I have a feeling Bargnani will kick into high gear soon. I don't know what's gotten to him. Fatigue can't be it.

pzabby 10-18-2012 12:54 AM

His shots just aren't dropping. Good shooters always recover

That isn't what's bothering me.... that's NEVER bothered me about Bargs. What bothers me is his EFFORT.... and what he's doing BESIDES scoring the ball.

A lot of guys looked into the game tonight. He wasn't one of them.

DonMughal 10-18-2012 01:12 AM

Trust me....the guy always shows up opening day.

he worked on defence...people look for what they wanna look for. He isnt playing well, but it isnt terrible.

Metallikid 10-18-2012 02:24 AM

He got two blocks, played man-to-man very well for most of his minutes and was hedging and helping like he did last year, which is quite an improvement over his first five seasons. And a couple times when he was on the floor with JV they worked together and really pressured them into some turnover and poor shots. It's only going to get better. :cookie:

bargnani played like shit in pre-season last year to, but the first game of the season he came out in beast mode and stayed there for 13 games

fancylad 10-18-2012 06:30 AM

i only watched little bits here and there, but the thing that has me remotely encouraged was the output from Landry fields. If he can consistently do that, then he might end up being alright.

This is true.
But he seems off, you would think he would have had 1 break out game by now.
I think he is still injured.

Carlos Danger 10-18-2012 08:24 AM

The future is now.

wchoi213 10-18-2012 08:54 AM

Barg will play fine when season begins. I can't wait til Lowry gets back into his shape before last year's injury.

I have a very strong feeling that we will kick out this season and make it to playoff :cookie:

Bargnani isn't schooling anybody. He's kind of drifting out there. I think he needs to force things, and in a good way. It looks like he's shooting just to get his shot off, there's no purpose.

creative1mm 10-18-2012 11:11 AM

I don't worry about Bargnanni we already know what he brings.. I would be more concern if Derozan was playing bad, yea it is pre-season but he has allot to prove more then Bargnanni does, him, fields and Ed Davis have something to prove

He's a fucking catastrophe! If everyone "worked on defence" at his rate, Wizards would've scored 200 pts.
Where can I look? He's there in the middle, floating around like a ghost.
Bargnani's presence on the court allows the other team go on runs.
To all Bargnani's groupies:
edit - went a bit overboard open your eyes!!!

The last 2 games I haven't seen anything that would signify "no effort" or "poor defence".

The only problem so far has been his inability to score the basketball.

rapsmannn 10-18-2012 02:33 PM

pre season is about geting everybody some shots, thats why you see the 10th man on the roster take as man shots as some of scorers

its just hte way it is, the coach needs to see this to see who he is going to play

i still like alan anderson i hope he gets minutes

i wouldn't mind if we went with a small ball second unit to push the ball

amir johnson, kleiza, anderson, ross, and calderon, but calderon has to get back into playing every minute hard becuase he isn't going to be playing majority of the minutes so he needs to push harder

RAPMAN 10-18-2012 04:22 PM

Its going to be Kyle and Jonas' team. Another good thing, they will play hard every game which will be a good example for the rest of the team. The farther down the pecking order for Mrs. Andrea, the better for the franchise.

TORaptor4Ever 10-19-2012 09:35 PM

Once again... I am pleased.

Jo-Vo is a damn beast. 3rd game in the league and he's giving a guy like Amare all he can handle on BOTH ends. Love this kid.

Lowry... had no idea he could shoot it from deep like that. Wow.

DD and Amir... solid again. Nice.

I like the depth that this squad is showing.
