Raptors Positives from this season

The Raptors had a terrible season. No question about it. But there are several positives that I think they can build on. Feel free to add or comment.

1. DeMar DeRozan- Minus the first month or 2, this guy has been on fire. Yes, he's playing on the Raptors, but he managed to double his point production from 8.6 to 17.1 while shooting a respectable 47% from the field. There's still a lot of room for improvement, and if he continues to improve, he is easily an all-star contender.

2. Ed Davis- He had a rough start to the season with that injury in the off season. But I like how this guy is developing. He is capable of doing the dirty work, averaging 7 rebounds, 1 block and 0.6 steals per game. If he bulks up in the off season and improves the post game and jump shot, he can develop into a Horford, Noah type of player.

3. Jose Calderon- He managed to put up a good season. 9.8 PPG, 8.9 APG. This may bump his trade value and return an usable asset.

4. In-season trades- I love Jarrett Jack and think he's better than Bayless, but we got younger and saved money with that trade, so I have no other complaints. James Johnson was also a good acquisition. With time he can develop into a good player in the league. He plays hard, and can do a bit of everything.

As of now, yes.

He can finish better than Bayless, gets to the foul line more, and turns the ball over less.

I'd still have JJ over Bayless, :S but I don't disagree with the trade, it was gonna be either jj or Calderon. and oh god if u think bayless is better :/ there is a reason why he's CLEARLY on the bench under Calderon. It's not like what was goin on last year where there was a pg controversy. Maybe next year, he'll be better.

We have really solid pieces which I am excited about.

Especially a guy like Amir. People think he is overpaid. However if he was a regular starter he would easily give you 10 and10 with a high fg percentage and maybe even a block or two.

Regular starter? He's gonna end up starting about 60 games this season. It's too bad he all too often gets into foul trouble, otherwise he'd play 35mpg and average somewhere around 12/10 imo.

Amir hasn't really gotten into foul trouble all that much. I think that's another positive. And something Triano needs to get some credit for.

That's true. He's staying in games longer because of that.

Last season was atrocious- he used to pick up 2 fouls in half a quarter.

Amir. Reggie. DD. Davis. Even Bayless (lately).

I've enjoyed watching all of them.

I know this team is bad...but the most positive thing for me is that I've never gotten the sense that this team is as bad as the record shows.

I can remember being much more frustrated with Raptor teams that have been better and done better on paper. It has everything to do with these guys playing hard and not giving up despite how the season has gone, and the fact that I do see a light at the end of all this. Regardless of the record I honestly believe this is the most exciting Raptor team we've had since we won the division, and the team is only going to get better.

The last place any team wants to be is on the treadmill, and with CB4 this team kept a steady pace on the treadmill. Not speeding up, not slowing down, just jogging. Those teams didn't play hard. They lost, and they lost bad. As a fan, that gave me a dead feeling - I didn't care. I didn't care about the team or any of the players save for a few. I skipped games last year. I never skip Raptor games.

This group of guys on the other hand, I want to see succeed. I know they're likely to lose most nights, but I watch anyways because I want to see them do well and I want to be the guy that was there from the shitter to the top. I can respect and root for a group of guys that goes hard, regardless of the outcome. That's the big positive for me.

Ed Davis - I think he's going to be around for a while and definately think he'll be a good starting PF.

Amir Johnson - I think he's proved he's worth his contract. He's not a steal, but he may turn out to be one before the end of his contract. I think he'll a be a good trade asset in a year or two.

Demar Derozan - Showing he can be a key piece of the starting lineup for the next few years.

Bayless - I like his game and he plays hard. I like to think he'll be a good starter, but we'll have to wait see.

High draft pick

1 less year on JC and AB's contract.

the best positive is the fact that we ghave sucked bad enough to get a good draft pick.

I agree with a lot of the comments.

DD was the biggest and best surprise.
Davis is better than I thought.
Bargnani actually can average over 20ppg.
Bayless trade.
Johnson trade.
Reggie's injury..which gave Davis trial by fire minutes.
I miss David Andersen a bit...
We beat some good teams and lost a bunch of close games due to inexperience.

Bad:

Defense still sucks.
3 point shooting regressed big time.
Defense still sucks.

I think Amir's game is exactly like Udonis Haslem's and that's a great thing to have.

What's good about this season is development. DD and Davis look like good core pieces going forward along with Bayless, Amir, JJ, and Weems (sometimes) What I liked is that we played harder than any other year before and played tougher at certain games. Some games we didn't get pushed over, but then there we games where we just slacked. Huge wins and failing loses, but I liked how our young players developed this year.

This board has certainly been busy this season, what with the 4 daily Bargs sucks, the problem with Bargs, Bargs shouldnt play, Triano is an idiot, Triano needs to be fired, Coaches on the hotseat, BC is an idiot, no GM is worse in the nba, BC wont be extended threads.

Havent decided if it is a postive or a negative yet though.
