Positive things about the Toronto Raptors

Okay, since we have a TON of threads that rant about the team, it's only fitting to have a thread that's dedicated to the positive aspects of the team.

If you have nothing positive to say about the team, please do not post in this thread.

Alright guys, let's try to show some love. Give me some positives!

I've said it a bunch of times now, but I think the steady progress of Bargs has been great this season. It's not easy to teach a guy to attack the basket, especially when he has a sweet stroke like Bargs. It's great to see.

Ex2k 11-21-2008 12:45 AM

3 things:

Chris Bosh

and

Jose calderon

and 50/50 love to Jermaine O'neal and Andrea Bargnani

that is all....

Acie 11-21-2008 12:57 AM

They have a pretty solid road record.

Not to mention certain people thought they'd be 0-10 after watching them play in the preseason.

Bosh's stones have gotten a little bigger.

O'Neal is showing signs of becoming our new AD with a better offensive game.

you dont know me 11-21-2008 12:59 AM

-Bosh's finally stepping up his game
-Andrea's much improved D
-Calderon proving he can run the team, that last year was no fluke
-JO actually fulfilling his duty of rebounding and blocking

insight_tor 11-21-2008 01:13 AM

I just love Raptors :yeah: .... Since the season start, we have 4 "big" (CB4,JO6,JC8,AB7) instead of 3 (CB4,JO6,JC8). :yeah:

henrymakepeace 11-21-2008 02:42 AM

Bosh shows some leadership. Hope he can continue that in the playoffs.

JO has been solid. It seems he will get even better.

Jose is showing he is all-star material.

Bargnani is working hard to be consistent. He can become Nowitzki-like in a couple of years.

If we win a plaoyff series and become a contender after this year, we can land here someone with a big name next year.

Quad Core 11-21-2008 03:27 AM

think about it.we have a 6 time allstar in jo,an allstar in bosh who is playing like a beast,a pg who put up allstar numbers last year and if he stays healthy will garner consideration this year as well.a high draft pick that busted his ass all summer and put on 25lbs of msucle and looks stunning in the post and on d,a solid vet and amazing defender in parker and the worlds best 3 pt shooter.......why are we underacheiving?

I wasn't liking the pace and the constant half-court sets, but the last outing showed me how that style can translate to making the best use of our strengths and cruising to the playoffs with less wear and tear, not to mention readiness for playoff basketball.

I'm LOVING his game this year.

Everything about him is better. His drives, his 3point shooting, his rebounding, his defense.

It's all coming together.

I hope the Raptors faithful can see this team for what it is and stick with it for a bit longer. Chris Bosh is a top 10 player in this league or higher, Jermaine O'Neal has begun to put up the numbers we expected offensively with 43 points and 45 rebounds in the past 3 games and has brought the inside presence beside CB4 that makes us a very hard team to out play up front. Andrea Bargnani has hopefully regained some of that confidence he lost as he has become a force on both offense and defense averaging 14 points and 4 rebounds in the last 3 games. If he can continue to progress on defense and on the glass, that is a very tough front line for any team in this league to match up against. Add to the mix Ocho at point guard and that is 4 of the 5 positions with very good players in them. Jose Calderon played the Heat with a sore leg but knew we needed him out there. The inspired offense was a result.

Our problem right now is at the 2 and 3 position. Hopefully going 4/4 in the 4th over Dwyane Wade will help Anthony Parker back to mental health and get his game face back. He has the potential to be a solid 2 in this league, but his time is running out. At the 3 we have the Jamario Moon Jason Kapono debate which neither looks willing to solve. Teams have eaten us up from there and putting Andrea there seems to offer us at least a consistancy that had been lacking. Our back up guards played like it, but I see so much of Jose in Roko Ukic that we must be patient with him as he will be a very good guard in time. Kris Humphries has played well when he has been needed and continues to be a great insertion into the lineup on the whole. He does tend to get beat by PF's that are quick like Kevin Garnett and Rasheed Wallace, but not many guys can cover those guys all night any how.

Sam Mitchell continues to work these guys into a team that could make noise. what it comes down to is HEART. Do these guys have the heart to go out and win games at any cost? Do they want every loose ball? Do they want to beat you down the court and cut off the lane? Are they willing to stop you at any price? So far, just over 50% of the time, that is true. It is time for the guys to step up and play like they can.

Should be a great game against the Nets tonight with Vince Carter back in the ACC.

Their new black uniforms kick ass this year, I want one!

Windex 11-21-2008 02:49 PM

Toronto has got a good core (Calderon, Bosh, Bargnani) for the future
Mitchell is an above average coach
U can count on Colangelo to improve the team

Bargs is definately showing something this year. Myself, I really wish he gets a little dirtier underneath the basket. He can do more than just space 18 feet out on offensive and defensive side. He has great tiiming and soft hands underneath the hoop. I just wish Bargs would show a little more of that at times

Snooch 11-21-2008 03:48 PM

Positives:

Jose is proving he can be the man
Bosh has gotten even beter
JO is doing what he needs to and is looking good
Bargs is improving daily and I like what I see

Team is not below 500 despite the Smitch

Gurk 11-21-2008 04:20 PM

Jose is playing good. Second in the league with 9 assists.
Bosh is playing unbelievable. He is 5 or 6th in the league for points.
JO is starting to mesh with the Raps and is averaging 17 points and 13 rebounds in the past 5 gamees, recording a double-double in each.
Bargs is coming into his own. He is starting to play consistent.
I like the black jersey's I am gonna ask for one on my birthday:dancing:

macs 11-22-2008 12:22 AM

Kapono got a haircut
Smitch stopped cursing
The Raptors find interesting ways to lose

maybe the last one was a rant
:scratchchin:

Gurk 11-22-2008 12:27 AM
